Sometimes When We Touch - Dan Hill
hahahaha i thought i was finally coping and moving on but then i heard 'Head Over Feet' live from Alanis Morissette last night (she's frigging terrific still with her voice by the way. AND I MEAN FRIGGING TERRIFIC BELTING OUT THOSE NOTES AND ROCKIN' HARD) and i remembered the lyrics which hit me hard on tedbecca and i drove home crying thinking about them 🤡
I had no choice but to hear you You stated your case time and again I thought about it
You treat me like I'm a princess I'm not used to liking that You ask how my day was
Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole You're so much braver than I gave you credit for That's not lip service
You are the bearer of unconditional things You held your breath and the door for me Thanks for your patience
You're the best listener that I've ever met You're my best friend Best friend with benefits What took me so long?
I've never felt this healthy before I've never wanted something rational I am aware now I am aware now
You've already won me over in spite of me Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are I couldn't help it It's all your fault
And THEN FECKING 'Sometimes when we touch' by Dan Hill plays on the radio and I know I haven't made a gifset since the finale but that chorus almost makes me wanna create on their trifecta hug scenes.
You ask me if I love you And I choke on my reply I'd rather hurt you honestly Than mislead you with a lie And who am I to judge you On what you say or do? I'm only just beginning to see the real you
And sometimes when we touch The honesty's too much And I have to close my eyes and hide I wanna hold you 'til I die 'Til we both break down and cry I wanna hold you 'til the fear in me subsides
Song Review: The Steel Wheels - “Yes I Know”
Dan Hill may have met his match with the Steel Wheels’ “Yes I Know.”
The ostensibly bluegrass-Americana Wheels roll backward toward 1970s soft rock on this fourth single - read Sound Bites’ previous coverage here - from the band’s forthcoming (Feb. 9, 2024) Sideways.
Built around Trent Wagler’s acoustic guitar and double-tracked vocals, the song carries hints of mandolin, violin and electric guitar, and even more dread and regret.
I can say your name/I can see your name frozen in a perfect block of ice/it keeps me paralyzed/it will leave a mark/mark on me I know everybody says so/so young and foolish, Wagler sings.
“Yes I Know” is pretty. But it’s also pretty morose.
