if anything, 2020 thus far has really shown a lot of people’s true colours, especially most rich people/celebrities. People we looked up to and even may have felt emotionally connected to have let us down in ways we couldn’t have imagined. I’m truly disheartened, especially by Lana and her actions/words. I’ve listened to her music since I was 12, and I really thought she was better than this. She had so much to say about how much she’s supposedly on black people’s sides when it came to defending her name, and had so much to say just a few days ago when it came to herself, but in the midst of everything happening recently with the blm movement, instead of using her platform for good, she has been silent and conveniently doesn’t have anything to say now. This is just one example of many, and could even include people we know personally. My anger, disgust and despair are immeasurable, and I honestly don’t know how much I can tolerate anymore, I can’t even begin to fathom the tremendous amount of pain and trauma that the black community have/are put through. Tears well up in my eyes as I type this, and even though this year has been so telling/unpleasant/major in terms of events so far, I plead with you (if anyone is reading this), to not lose hope in these trying times, as difficult as that may be. We will keep fighting, we will demand justice, and we will come out better than before.
(Sorry for the rant, just wanted to get it off my chest x)
