on holiday, cooking dinner for anyone who happens to walk by, glancing over occasionally as dalton reads by the fire. wait, what book is that? shit, that’s a good book, he has good taste in books too. god damn it, can he be at least a little less attractive? i bet he’s super warm, too, right now, all snuggled by the fire, and it would be so great to just sit beside him and also read and then just give him random kisses and- OH SHIT THE FOOD IS ON FIRE.

drink after drink she wanted to get the sight out of her head get the thought out of her head but with each sip she took the thoughts strengthened and she soon found herself leaving  Bayview and making her way to Dalton’s place. everything around her was a blur as she walked in the house and to his room where she found him lounging reading and when she entered he looked up worry written across his face and he should because what she was about to say was something she had gone back on from their talk on the beach. “i keep telling you i’m going to be okay, that i’ll get over everything that’s happened, but i can’t. i can’t just get over any of it because i did care for you so much and i did have a thing with ian and the only rule we had was no feelings but when i left you i fell and i fell hard, and seeing you two together kills me, and hurts me and i don’t think i can just get over it.” she said looking from the boy to the floor, her drunken mind swirling. when she heard movement she looked up but only shook her head when she saw the boy move closer to her, “i-im sorry... i have to go.” she said quickly turning and rushing out of the room and out of the house running back to her house where she stood against the door letting out a breath. 

in this moment she didn’t know what she was thinking all she knew was she was falling and she was falling hard. she knew if she stayed she’d never leave she’d never what to leave his side and she knew that could potentially be bad, because she’d find a way to ruin it, she always found a way to ruin it. that’s what she was sitting up in bed the two shared, thankful that for this moment the boy was a heavy sleeper. she could easily feel her fear creeping through her veins, that something bad was going to happen and the idea of him leaving her if she stayed kept repeating itself in her mind. she couldn’t live with that fear and even though she loved it here and possibly loved the sleeping boy beside her she carefully stood from the bed and quickly, but quietly, gathered everything that was connected to her packing it in a small suitcase keeping her tears at bay. when she was finished she made her way back to the bedroom now noticing his change now that she wasn’t in the bed, seeing him hold her pillow close to his chest, the sight broke her heart more that she almost backed out of leaving knowing this was going to hurt him, he was going to wake up and it was going to seem as though she never existed. she let out a quiet breath as she made her way over to where he laid standing in front of him pushing back his hair and leaning down pressing a soft kiss to his forehead, careful not to wake him before she pulled away placing her phone on the counter as she headed out of the house getting into a cab and heading to the airport, now the tears at bay freely falling.

Ian had been pretty positive that taking things slow was going to eventually kill him, but he truly believed that Dalton was purposefully teasing him now. It was hot on the island, sure, and everyone seemed to enjoy the loose-fitting clothing that allowed their skin to breathe, but really, was this necessary? Dalton had stolen one of Ian’s various tank tops and was wearing it around the house. Not only did it appeal to Ian’s territorial side, but it highlighted the guy’s shoulders and collarbones better than it ever had on Ian. He shook his head, pressing a kiss to said collarbones. “I’ll be back in a little bit, alright? I gotta go take a shower.” He said, already cringing at how cold the water would feel on his skin. “You’re welcome to join me anytime, though.” He said, biting the other’s neck before darting up the stairs to avoid retaliation.

It was rare that Ian woke up after Dalton; he’d always been a pretty light sleeper, so even at the latest, he would wake up when Dalton did. Putting his glasses on and seeing the other wandering around in just a pair of shorts was a surprise, albeit a pleasant one. “Mm. Maybe I should sleep in more often.” He said, watching the muscles move in Dalton’s back as he got dressed. “Wait, no, don’t put clothes on. I wanted to tempt you into coming back to bed.” He teased as he curled up in the blankets and grinned.
