Dali's Hole (Sinc Harriet) by PentlandPirate of the North The fog was really thick in Dinorwic quarry that morning, and apart from hearing one piercing scream up above me it felt very eerie and isolating. I just didn't feel inclined to climb down into Dali's Hole. I was pretty sure that the fog would have created an even more surreal atmosphere with the tree skeletons poking through the greyness. But it is quite a labour to get down there and although it looks dryish the bottom is covered in a slippery silt that clings to everything. Movement isn't easy down there. Every step has to be considered. And frankly I don't like it down in there on my own. You feel very trapped. Last time I was spotted by a couple of climbers who looked down over the edge at me, but if something did happen no one would know you were there. So I stayed on the lip up above and shot down trying to capture what a truly weird place it is. It's submerged at the moment. The stone building deep below the normally bright blue, crystal clear waters. The fact that it is normally deep in water makes it all the more special to get down there. Not many people do. And it's quite alien at night. Spooky as hell, and you definitely aren't getting away from any ghosts fast if they come after you! https://flic.kr/p/2gBzncR
