Keeping their relationship a secret had been fun at first. Exciting, even. Secret glances, stolen kisses in precious moments they could find alone together felt all the more thrilling because no one knew what they were doing.
The novelty wore off quickly. Daisuke was frustrated that he couldnāt so much as hold Kenās hand in front of the others, Ken was stressed at yet another aspect of his life he had to hide from his parents, and they were both exhausted.
So they made a deal. On their upcoming Saturday trip to the Digital World, theyād tell their friends about their relationship, and when they left for home theyād tell their parents. That way everyone would know, and theyād have the rest of the weekend to deal with the emotional fallout. They agreed to meet on Rainbow Bridge after all was said and done, just in case they needed the moral support.
On Saturday morning Daisuke stood with his friends in the computer room as Miyako prepared the digital portal. Taking a deep breath, he raised his D-3.
Here we go.

Giving Too Much
Daiken Week Day 3: Illness/Injury
So I didnāt think I was actually going to write anything for this week considering how busy Iāve been with school and whatnot, but then I got out of clinic early today and saw the prompt and I was a goner. Oops?
Summary: Ken was used to coming home to a quiet apartment, but this was too quiet for his liking. And the kitchen was empty save one boiling pot... Sick!fic
Characters: Ken, Daisuke
Pairing: Daiken
Ken thumbed through the mail, humming a quiet tune to himself as he walked through the door to his and Daisukeās apartment. His school bag was slung over his shoulder, his jacket crinkled and crumpled to accommodate the bagās band. He kicked his shoes off haphazardly, slipping into his slippers with a practiced ease. Walking into the living room, he placed the mail down onto the coffee table in a neat pile. āDaisuke,ā he called out to the mostly quiet apartment. āIām home!ā Deft fingers moved to slip his glasses from his nose, carefully untangling the temples from the long strands of hair that had gotten caught in the hinge. The world fell into a comfortable, but barely noticeable blur.
Ken blinked when there was no answer to his call, his eyebrows pressing down in concern. āDaisuke?ā He dropped his bag onto the couch and moved into the kitchen, where Daisuke typically was at this time of night. The stove was on, a pot filled with something strange and experimental bubbling on its top.
But no Daisuke.
āDaisuke?ā Again, no response, nothing except for Kenās quiet breaths that he felt rasped far too loud in the oppressive silence in the apartment. Daisuke was so loud, so boisterous, that he seemed to fill a room, never leaving Ken to the sanctity of his own thoughts. But without himā¦the atmosphere in the apartment seemed heavyā¦oppressive even.
Daiken Week | Illness
Catching up! Ā Takes place in this universe, although no prior knowledge is necessary to understand this. <700 words. Ā Still no proofreading or plot in sight.
So far as Tokyo apartments go, theirs isnāt so tiny. Ā Itās a few hundred square feet, with the mattress tucked up into a shallow loft on one end. Ā They have to crawl in, not enough clearance to even sit upright, and they clamor over each other a few times a week to be on the outside. Ā But it keeps them from having to make room for a futon every night or sacrifice the floor space full time for a bed. Ā Itās close quarters, to say the least, especially for two people who have never really shared a bed before, but theyāre through the worst of it. Ā They think. Ā And then Ken nudges Daisuke awake at three in the morning because he wonāt stop turning over and over, jostling Ken out of sleep.
Daisuke grumbles, āI just fell asleep,ā but Ken is too irritated to let it go without some recompense.
āYouāve been kicking me for an hour.ā
āMm,ā Daisuke replies, and shifts over onto his side to maneuver away from the wall and further into Kenās space. Ā Itās well into July and they only have a sheet on the bed, duvet folded up and tucked away until such a time as the air conditioner becomes absolutely necessary. Ā But it feels plenty cool now, with the balcony door pushed open to let in the breeze, the sound of late night traffic.
He drifts back off before Ken can shoulder him away, sighing, feeling bad about it but not letting Daisuke squirm in close again.
āItās too hot,ā he says, fending off Daisukeās hold.
More often than not, this is the kind of grappling that turns into sex. Ā Theyāre still very much into the novelty of being able to do that whenever they want to, of not having anyone around who might overhear or, god forbid, walk in on them. Ā Daisuke in particular revels in this new freedom and has taken to hanging out around the apartment in just his underwear a lot. Ā Ken is more modest which, really, Daisuke thinks is hilarious.
āāS cold,ā Daisuke whines, and lets Ken elbow him away only after the puppy eyes have failed. Ā Much more effective in daylight, and when his head isnāt spinning a little from the effort of keeping it up off the pillow for more than a second.
Ken squints at him, reaches out across the half a foot he forced between them, and presses the back of his hand against Daisukeās cheek. Ā Daisuke tilts into the touch despite the dizziness, and Ken squints harder.
āYouāre warm.ā
āCold,ā Daisuke whines again, out and out grumping when Ken fends him off a second time. Ā āSince when are you anti-snuggle?ā
Ken is on the near side of the mattress tonight. Ā He doesnāt have to climb over Daisuke to get down out of the loft, just scooch down toward the foot and catch the stairs with his heels.
(He never jumps down, doesnāt want to disturb their downstairs neighbors. Ā Daisuke has made a game of crouching up tight against the highest step and leaping as far as he can. Ā Ken refuses to measure his distances or let him mark up the floor so he can measure them himself.)
āIf I had known there would be a no snuggling rule, I never would have agreed to live with you,ā Daisuke says, raising his voice as much as he dares in the middle of the night, with the balcony door open and Ken still perfectly in hearing range. Ā āItās not too late to trade you in, you know. Ā Thereās the boy at the cafe. Ā With the nose ring. Ā I bet heād snuggle all night long. Ā Ā Like an octopus.ā
Ken comes halfway up the stairs with a half-empty bottle of water and a couple of aspirin. Ā āThe boy at the cafe?ā
Daisuke reaches for the water, the medicine, for Ken himself. Ā He makes greedy, needy little noises until Ken climbs all the way back into bed, until he lets Daisuke curl up around his hip, rest his fever-warm cheek against Kenās stomach.
Heās almost dozed off again, already half sunk into a dream, when Ken nudges him awake.
āWhich cafe?ā
Day 5: Hurt/Comfort/Angst I'm soooo slow;;; I'm still colouring my drawing for the day 6 Orz Ken "went" to the Dark Ocean and Daisuke tries to help him to get out. (Yes, I'm one of those that think the Dark Ocean is a metaphor for depression) Daisuke Motomiya (Davis Motomiya) and Ken Ichijouji from Digimon 02.
