Sawamura Daichi

He… tends to prefer something a little more lowkey, anything that doesn’t impede your daily life and doesn’t make him feel like you might accidentally poke one of his eye.

He does appreciate that you take care of your nails regularly, and likes your handcream even more.

His heart melts every time you randomly come up to him, asking for his dry and calloused hands, so that you can apply whatever leftover cream that’s on your hands (you never let him know that you put on more than necessary every time when he’s in your vicinity just for that reason alone).

If you ask him, he will pay for a nail appointment from time to time, to spoil you, but he does much prefer when you take the time to do your own nails instead.

He will happily follow you around the beauty isles like a black retriever while you shop for a new colour to add to your small collection of polishes, readily giving you his honest opinion of what he thinks would look good on you.

He might even surprise you by picking a colour himself and asking you if you like it (he’ll have picked it either because he thinks it would go well with your eyes or because the colour itself somehow reminded him of you, and he’ll be blushing to the tip of his ears while he gives you his reasoning, even more so when you buy that one polish he picked out).

Oikawa Tōru

He very much enjoys that his partner likes to take care of their nails, and he really likes the stylish aspects of long nails.

100% will pay for your nail salon appointments, BUT he has a say in the style you are getting. Sorry, babe, yes, that does mean that you will occasionally end up with cutesy alien-themed nails when the fancy strikes him. Thankfully, aside from those times, he’s surprisingly flexible and trusts your good tastes, usually having a simple request for you to fulfill (like adding star motifs, glitter one time, matte another time, having the colours match his jersey, etc.) and he’ll be as happy as can be.

He’s not a fan of sitting in the parlor with you throughout the appointment, since the smell is really aggressive to his poor nose, but the ladies all like him so dearly (who doesn’t?) that he’ll endure with that scary natural way of his and stay practically glued to your side all while chatting up basically everyone in the parlor.

Will sometimes get simple nailcare done alongside you, especially before he has to leave for big matches; it lets him spend some quality time with you while still doing something to ease his nerves before his games that is not training his body down to his bones.

If you do your own nails, while he still cannot really stand the smell of the products, he’ll find himself staring at you from a safe distance because he finds the calm intensity in your eyes captivating.

And when you’ll eventually put down your file or your nailbrush to find him staring shamelessly at you, you’ll find him smirking because, sometime during your relationship with him, you picked up his habit of sticking out his tongue from the corner of his mouth when he falls in deep focus, except he find the added lil crinkle of your nose so much cuter when you do it.

Iwaizumi Hajime

He’s honestly not into very long nails. They’re impractical and he finds himself worrying that you’ll hurt yourself (or others) by accident past a certain length he deems “safe” or “acceptable”.

The strong tapping on your phone screen might grate on his nerves after a bad day too, so fair warning.

Might treat you to an occasional nail appointment, but only if you asks, really. He tends to spend his money on you through other means, like treating you to your favourite foods, professional masseuses, facials and spa days (whether it be with him or not, because he does like the occasional spa date).

He’ll be more lenient if you do your own nails and don’t always rely on a pro, mostly because that means you can easily file your nails at home before they become a “liability” to your everyday life.

He will, if he finds you working on your nails, take care of some tasks such as the dishes and cooking dinner so that you can 100% focus on that part of your self-care routine.

He so does love when, after painting your nails and successfully recreating a simple design, you go find him, make grabby hands until he offers his open palms for you to place your soft hands into them so that he can admire the results of your hard work.

He’ll hold your hands oh so softly and quirk a little smile at you, his eyes crinkling at the corners in barely concealed amusement because you’re so cute when you’re so proud like this, and your hands are so so soft from the cream you used and they look so small and dainty in his… he’s melting inside. You know it, he knows you know, but you also know he’s not gonna show you anything more that that little proud smirk while he takes his time brushing his thumb over your knuckles.

Kuroo Tetsurō

Honestly really likes them claws on you.

He doesn’t mind longer styles either, so long as you can still function decently on your own, and they feel great on his scalp.

Because this man adores when you play with his hair; you having nails just means better head scratches and deep hair washes.

He’ll gladly pay for your nail tech appointments randomly, because he knows that, when he does, you’ll absolutely come back with a sleek design you know he’ll love too (it will most definitely feature some cat details because you’re both suckers for those, despite him preffering dogs as pets), and he will compliment you for using his money so well, you can be sure of that.

If you do your own nails, he’ll look forward to coming home to you padding excitedly to greet him in the genkan, offering him a much needed welcome home kiss while you grab his hands so that he can look down at them once you pull away. He’ll make you wait though, holding your gaze with that lazy smirk of his and enjoying that sparkle of excitement that shimmers into your eyes for just a moment longer than you’d wish, simply because he knows that you want him to look down at your fresh set of nails. Might even ask you what’s got you so excited that you came to greet him at the door, just to tease you, but you know he loves it.

One time, when he went to compliment your nails, he had laced his fingers with yours and brought your hand to his lips, whispering the words against your skin, which had you blushing in sheer giddiness, and he hasn’t stopped since then.

Will happily volunteer to help you with any picture you might wanna take to share with your friends and/or on your socials… so long as it involves that one trend where his hand engulfs yours and only your tiny fingers peek out from between his, like cute decorated claws.

He has suggested other poses before, but you shut him down because there was no way you’d allow your family to see those sort of suggestive images about you and Tetsurō. He has, nonetheless, convinced you to take some, and he might have used some as your pfp or even for his home screen on his phone.

Bokuto Kōtarō

He’s into it.

Mostly because he's a sucker for back scratches and he will find every excuse possible for you to do it, but if you keep your nails long, he just feels like it's even better!

He'll randomly walk up to you and turn his broad back to you in a silent request for back scratches. Doesn't matter if he's actually itchy or not (you know his shoulders are flexible enought that he can reach most of his back on his own), he just craves the physical touch, the domesticity of it.

Oh, and expect a similar treatment when he feels like being coddled during movie night; he'll lay down his head on your chest or your laps and will require that you drag your nails gently accross his back. He will look over his shoulder with a pout if you don't comply fast enough.

He sincerely thinks that your nails are better than his to get rid of that itch he may or may not actually have. Yes, he will ask for back scritches even if he doesn’t actually have an itch.

He's not a fan of those super long coffin-shaped extravagant ones or those really sharp stiletto ones he sees some influencers and fashion girls wear (those in particular scare him, since he can’t shake off the though that someone could get an eye popped with one wrong move), but he does like longer almond-shaped nails, since he finds that they are both still functional and make your hands elegant.

Oh, and because almond nails offer that sweet spot between soft enough to not look dangerous, but sharp enough to provide world class scritches (his words).

He’ll treat you to manicures every now and then if you like those, and he will never fail to compliment you on what you get, no matter what it is.

Still, if you really ask him what style he likes best, he’ll go for more simple designs. Any colour you want is good and a touch of glitter will make him a little giddy because then he’ll get an excuse to gently hold your hands to stare at how they shimmer in different lighting.

If you can do your own nails, and make them look good on your own too, he’ll shower you with compliments even more so than if you had gone to a professional, even if you point out the mistakes you made while experimenting.

Miya Atsumu

Sure, why not?

If it makes you happy, he’s even happier to spoil you and indulge you with salon visits.

He does wonder how you do anything with long nails (yet he secretly revels in those time where he can hear you angrily tapping away at your phone, answering some poor soul’s text with such fury he knows you’re coming up with some savage lines he’ll ask you about later), and he will be secretly scared of you poking him in the eye if your nails are particularly long, but he won’t make a big deal of it so long as you’re careful.

If you ask him how he’d like you to do your nails, he’ll absolutely request something that matches his jersey with added gold details, something that’ll be elegant rather than cutesy. There's nothing wrong with cutesy though, of course! (A.k.a.: he's a little scared of insulting your nails, seeing how he's scared of what you could do to him with them, but he'll play it cool as long as he can, AND you asked him for his preference so...)

He will never fail to compliment your nails with a kiss to your knuckles when you do end up with a design you say reminded you of him. He’ll be smug about it, but his smile sways between a smirk and that boyish grin he can’t help but flash at you when you make his heart all giddy just by telling him you were thinking about him.

If you do your own nails, he’ll likely ask you to help him with his own nail care the week of a big game.

He really loves how you’ll hold his calloused hands so delicately while you carefully but swiftly file his nails and apply the much needed oil to his cuticles. But the best part is the hand massage when you’re done and are now applying the luxury hand cream he got for you (yet you insist on sharing with him). You'll be working extra hard on softening those calluses of his, even when you both know they won't ever go away because he'll just work himself just as hard as usual once his feet hit the court. But he finds it too endearing and visibly melts the longer the massage lasts.

Miya Osamu

If you like your nails long, you better know how to properly and regularly wash your hands, especially under your nails, or you are not allowed into any kitchen or to handle food whatsoever.

You will likely still end up wearing some gloves for sanitary reasons anyway, especially if you help him out at his onigiri shop, but it will bother him if he doesn’t see you wash under your nails, and you will be banned from the kitchen and the pantry until you have learned your lesson. And he will put your favourite snacks out of your reach and hide them to make sure you won't forget it.

Other than that, he’ll much prefer if you do your own nails, keeping them at a manageable length that is both comfortable for you and still practical.

Sure, what the pros do can be really impressive, but it’s impractical and he much prefers something more natural or at the very least simple, cute or elegant.

Can't stand the smell of nail products, so it's better if you wait for him to not be home when you wish to work on your nails.

He gets massively grossed out when you break a nail, but he’ll swiftly take care of you if you’ve gotten hurt and proceed to (gently) lecture you about being more careful and maybe, just maybe, go for just a little shorter next time.

What he won’t admit, though, is that he quickly grows addicted to the gentle graze of your nails along his scalp and his skin when you cuddle together at home and you’re cradling him in your arms, drawing mindless shapes anywhere your hands can reach.

He might become a little more lenient on the length of your nails once he discovers that specific benefit of you having long nails.

Most of these boys are tall, and they’re very much used to be among the tallest wherever they go (in Japan at least), and they’re used to seeing girls and women in various levels of heels everyday while still being, for the most part, taller than them, so that’s the general feeling I’ll be starting from for these! I will also add their latest recorded height as reference point next to each characters’ name for you!

Sawamura Daichi (176.8 cm/5’9.6)

You have to be tall already to become taller than him in heels and, honestly, he wouldn’t be a fan if you did. (Sorry...) He’s used to not being the tallest among athletes, but his height is nothing to sneeze at by Japanese standards and he’s quite proud of that. Call him traditional, he’d much rather if you remained a few centimeters shorter than him once you both have shoes on.

There’s just something that pulls him in when you wear heels and are still shorter than him, but this something just gets stronger the shorter you are (sorry tall lovelies, he still loves your long legs, but, on the bright side, you don’t have to suffer in heels for him).

Is the type to bring a pair of flats for you at the function so you can change out of your heels once your feet get too sore. He once saw a short video of some dude slipping his girlfriend’s thin flat sandals into his socks under his slacks and immediately stole the trick; he makes sure to be discreet when he pull them out for you though, so neither of you has to be embarrassed by the trick.

Will exhude pride if you can walk elegantly next to him in your heels; he can’t help it.

Please, do still hang on to his arm while you’re wearing high shoes though. It makes him feel more secure that he’ll be there if you happen to trip (or worse).

Because he gets quite worried about you tripping when he’s not around, he tends to prefer chunkier-styles of heels over stilletos, and he may lean more towards kitten heels too, though that also depends on how tall you are; he’s a little more lenient if you’re quite short already.

Sugawara Kōshi (174.6 cm/5’8.7)

This man doesn’t give a damn how much taller your heels make you, he’ll be too busy admiring how good your legs and your butt look while you’re wearing them.

He will tease you whether you’re taller than him or not, but he’ll have one hell of a good time if you’re still significantly shorter than him with your high heels on. Were you really expecting less of him though?

Will love basically any kind of heels, so long as you like them too, but he goes a little more feral for sleek stilletos… He knows they’re far from practical, nor are they the most common to see in countryside Miyagi, but that’s also part of the charm for him?

Might save to get you a pair of Louboutins if he sees you looking a little too long at a pair one day when you’re out together in the city.

Gives great foot massages at the end of the day after you’ve been out and standing and/or walking all day in your heels. He doesn’t expect you to give him back the favour the same night, but he will want something in return soon, in the regular give-and-take fashion of your relationship (platonic or romantic).

Will tease youou endlessly if he has to carry you back home on his back at the end of the day/night (because, unlike some others on this list, he will not bring you a spare pair of flats for you to change into, and he does that on purpose; that's all part of his grand plan to tease you while giving you a piggyback ride).

Azumane Asahi (186.4 cm/6’1.4)

This man knows what makes a good shoe. Sure, he’s more specialized in sports apparel & designs, but he still learned a few things about heels for his career and he’ll readily learn a lot more about it for you.

He will secretly sketch some designs for you and he may have his favourite one made as a gift for you for a special occasion (like an anniversary of some sort).

He’ll be put off and midly intimidated if you end up taller than him while you’re wearing heels. He doesn't hate it, don't get him wrong, he thinks you are gorgeous, but he can't help feeling intimidated nonetheless.

He’s also so very concerned about the health of your feet that he’s adamant that you not wear anything that’s higher than the natural arch of your feet (which he will have explained to you and made sure to measure it with you)… Or at least that you don’t wear higher heels too often (because he’s not very good at keeping to the previous rule if you push just a little more and all he wants is to make you happy).

Will feed your shoe addiction if left uncheck (that’s what you guys have Nishinoya for, but sometimes he’s worse…).

Will always insist that you have a comfy pair of shoes to change into before your feet get too sore from standing & walking. Luckily, you’ll never feel like your comfy shoes look out of place with any of your outfits because he’s just that good at styling (and you’re easily his favourite person to style).

Nishinoya Yū (160.5 cm/5’3.2)

While he does love to see your beautiful legs elongated in heels, if absolutely pressed, he’ll admit that he prefers when you’re shorter than him (if that’s the case). But, seeing as he is quite short himself and always has been, he’s learned to admire the beauty of everyone around him from below, so don't stress yourself if you're taller than him, he still loves you (platonic & romantic).

Ideally, you’d still be about his height when wearing heels though, especially if you’re his romantic partner.

Because he’s so short (and, deep down, he’s not too keen on his partner being too much taller than him), he’ll naturally lean more towards kitten heels. He’ll say it’s because they look easier to move in (and he’s not wrong, he can see you struggling with heels that are too tall for you), and he'll prioritizes your comfort over fashion any day.

He’ll readily throw himself on the ground to break your fall if he’s not quick enough to catch you when you trip, and he’s fast and has a flair for theatrics, so you can expect to be caught in a low dip any chance he gets (he’ll do it for the hell of it if you’re just friends, but expect more serious flirting if he’s interested or you’re in a romantic relationship).

Will also be one to insist that you have flats to change into later, just in case, especially if your heels are higher than kitten heels or if he knows they’re a new pair that has yet to be broken in. He’ll bring your shoes with him gladly.

He’ll have mad fun seeing you try on the wildest, possibly most horrendous, pairs of shoes you’ll come across. Not to buy them, but just to see if you can figure out how to walk in them and to have fun with you.

Can be convinced to try on the stupid shoes with you. He rarely manages to walk, but he’ll stand and attempt a pose for you, just to hear you laugh.

Hinata Shōyō (164.2 cm/5’4.6 – 172.2 cm/5’7.8)

You might expect him to prefer that you not wear any heels that would make you taller than him if possible, but he’ll be positively glowing even if you end up a few centimeters taller than him.

He has no qualms whatsoever using stairs to his advantage, especially if you’re on the taller side (compared to him).

If you’re in a romantic relationship, and wearing heels means you end up half a head taller than him, he won’t be a fan per se, but he'll refuse to tell you that because he ends up too enamored with how happy you look in the outfit you chose and it’d break his heart to tell you that he’d rather you had worn another pair of shoes that didn’t make him feel so short next to you. It took so long for him to be above the standard height for a Japanese man, so he still has moments where he feels insecure, especially when he sees you standing next to his (much) taller teammates and you still have to look up at them. It bugs him, especially with a romantic partner; just reassure him that he's the one for you and he should be able to shake off this unpleasant feeling of inadequacy pretty easily.

His favourite styles are either really cutesy shoes with bows & frills, or those sneakers with hidden wedges in them.

But more importantly, you need to be very comfortable in your shoes because this boy will absolutely forget to grab the bag with your flats in them at the door if you haven’t grabbed them yourself.

On the bright side, he’ll happily give you a piggyback ride anywhere you might want to go once your shoes become too much.

He'll also fetch you anything you may want or need, ninja fast! Sometimes so fast he makes you wonder if he anticipated what you'd want (he's pretty good at guessing, but he relies mostly on the fast that he knows you well enough to make his guesses).

He’ll do his best later to give you a foot massage, though he’s not the best. He will, however, bring you anything you need wherever you may be sitting down to allow you to rest. And he’ll be ninja fast too.

Tsukishima Kei (190.1 cm/6’2.8 – 195.3 cm/6’4.9)

Chances are, you won’t be taller than him, even in your heels, and he doesn’t ever expect you to be: that’d just be unfair to you, really.

He’ll snicker quietly if you do, however, end up standing as tall as he is with your shoes on. Makes him want to look down and judge people with you in a quiet corner, especially the ones who jump or gasp in surprise once they spot you two standing over the crowd.

If you still struggle to reach his chin even with your heels on, though? Oh boy… you’re in for so much (secretly affectionate) teasing, the way only Kei can do it (because he will roast anyone who dares fathom that they are allowed to speak to you the way he does).

He’ll let you wear any and all types of heels you wish. After all, you likely won’t be taller than him anyway. He does tend to prefer sleek and elegant designs over the flashy stuff though in terms of style.

He doesn’t like to listen to you complain about your sore feet, especially if you’re already on the tall side and you don’t need heels to stand above most of the other women/people in the crowd. At that point, he'd ask you why you willingly put yourself through that torture "for the sake of fashion or whatever". In Tsukki dialect, this loosely translates to "I'd rather see you comfortable and happy with your beaten up favourite sneakers even if they don't match with your outfit because seeing you happy makes me happy too."

Still, if you’re in a romantic relationship, he has a soft spot for you, and he’ll discreetly find ways for you to rest your feet as soon as he notices that you’re starting to struggle to stay still on your feet. Man's so sleek about it too, you won't even realize what he'd doing until about halfways through the day/evening.

It’ll take some hard bargain to get him to carry you around at the end of the night. He’d rather walk at snail’s pace next to you (which he already sorta does for your sake on a daily basis) than hoist you up on his back to bring you home. Might be bought with a slice or two of his favourite bakery's strawberry shortcake, plus a bonus to be determined between the two of you.

Kageyama Tobio (181.9 cm/5’11.6 – 188.4 cm/6’2.2)

Sweet boy. Sweet Kageyama Tobio just doesn’t get it. At all. So he’d rather not have any opinion on your love of heeled shoes.

They look uncomfortable to him; he can see you grow uncomfortable as the hours pass, so why do you put yourself through this?

The higher the heels, the more worried he gets for the wellbeing of your feet. And he cares very much about them, just like he cares a lot about the overall state of your whole body.

His confusion intensifies if you’re clumsy and still insist on wearing heels. Just why?? When you know you might twist an ankle so easily?

But he’ll offer his arm for you to cling on to while you walk, and will not take “I’m fine” for an answer. He will not budge so long as you don't wrap one hand around the crook of his arm, no matter how lightly you hold on to him. It makes him feel like you'll be able to rely on him if you were to trip or twist an ankle.

Will likely prefer to bring everything to you if you get a chance to sit down or even to simply allow you to stay still close to a wall or railing where you can lean some of your weight on if you ever get tired, if only because that reduces the chances of you tripping in those heels.

He’ll still do his best to catch you if you do trip though. But expect him to become a bumbling blushing mess, whether you’re in a romantic relationship or not. If you're just friends though, he might give you a small lecture or call you a clumsy idiot.

He’ll grumble if he has to carry you back home on his back, but you’ll only have to ask him nicely maybe twice. Because he won’t truly have understood the first time you asked, his brain jumping into overthinking mode as he fights the embarrassment.
