I have talked about vicki + love on every blog she's ever been on ( and she's been around since 2018 in one form or another . . . so you can imagine how often i've yapped about this ) but this is such an interesting topic to me, because love is such an important aspect of who she is ! Sorry if this is rambly . . . but it is what it is, and this is exactly how she would have wanted it.
She loses her father when she's incredibly young, barely old enough to have any memories of him that are hers, and not memories she's pieced together from stories she's been told. Vicki sees the grief in her family, in those who she loves and trusts, and decides that she will never be the reason why they feel that way ⎯⎯ her first act of love is to cling to her happy and bubbly personality because it distracts her family from the grief. Victoria will make a fool out of herself in order to make them happy. Later, as she grows up, this means that she remains very in tune with who she is, and actually stays true to her 'childhood' personality. Even when the world wants her to give that up. Who she is, is a testament to love to her family.
As she grows, two things become obvious. One, Victoria loves the concept of love, but sometimes struggles to understand the differences between platonic and romantic love. And two, she falls in love with everyone she's ever met in a heartbeat.
She loves love, and gives her heart to the homeless person on the corner of the street just as quickly as she does to a fairytale prince. However, this means that when she meets someone new, she is already a flirty creature even when she does not mean to be. The way she presents herself to the world is often seen as if she's flirting with everyone left and right. By the time people get to know her, and they figure out that that's simply the way she is, she's set the baseline. When she later does figure out that her feelings are romantic, and not platonic, the door is shut in her face because 'oh yeah, that's just classic Vicki !'
Vicki doesn't have her first kiss until she's well into her early twenties, yet she's already spend multiple hours with a bottle of wine listening to the latest t/aylor sw/ift album crying her little heart out as if she's ever been in a serious relationship at that point.
I am fully aware that I am rambling, but it's important for me to say that Vicki is . . . odd. Personal space is just a concept for her and not something she really cares for. She will hug, kiss, and cling to anyone who she feels could use it ( which, is basically anyone ) but she will also roll up to the function with a huge helium-filled crocodile balloon tied to her wrist. She learns quickly, through short-lived relationships, that romantic love requires her to change. While people tell her that she's fine the way she is, they quickly retract that statement when she shows up to a date with a twig in her hair and without shoes on her feet. Or when they invite her over to meet their parents, and she's rambling about flowers for the whole evening without ever stopping. She refuses to change, but this means that she never really gets further in a relationship than a few dates or a year at most.
