Running a hand over his face with a tired sigh, the sorcerer folded the scrolls neatly, before placing it on top of the ever growing pile next to him. It had become a habit of his to read through the scrolls that passed Arthur’s desk, just so he could keep up with whatever his foster son was dealing with. Not only out of concern for the King but also for any suspicious messages that might lead to the harm of the King or the people of Camelot. Merlin cared deeply for all around him. Stranger or acquaintance. It did not matter to him. What mattered was that they were living beings and they all deserved a chance.

His dark study shone a little brighter, though it did little to mellow the shadows under his eyes from lack of sleep. Sighing once more he pulled another scroll towards him when there was a knock on the door.
Frowning, and casting a glance at the darkened sky outside he wandered who would come to visit him at this hour. Pushing away from his desk he walked across the length of the room, opening the door, a quizzical look on his face which morphed to one of astonishment when he saw who awaited on the other side.
