Summary: Could you make one where the reader and Tom celebrate there childâs birthday party.(Use scarlett again if u want) And Toms family comes over and y/nâs family is meant to as well. However her small side of the family to her mum comes but her dads side doesnât. She tries to act not sad at all by it until two someoneâs appear late to the party. Just make something up.
Today is a very special day, not only is the weather outside beautiful itâs also my daughters birthday, Scarlett. Me and Tom have prepared a small childrenâs party to celebrate her 4th birthday. Scarlett was born a little before the lock down, which means when covid happened we were all stuck inside without seeing the family.
But now finally we can all come together as a family to celebrate our little hollandâs birthday. Of course Iâve met Toms family before, we have been dating now for 6 years and have been engaged for about 8months now. His family really support our relationship and there always so kind and welcoming to there family.
My family on the other hand they can be kind and nice sometimes. Well my mums side of the family are so sweet, my dads side are not as sweet as that seem. Throughout mine and Toms relationship and pregnancy my dads family has been nothing but unsupported and fake. They hadnât even tried to take time out of there day to see how our daughter was or even me.
Donât get me wrong, I love my dads side of the family even though I shouldnât. Even as a child they never really cared for me, during a long period of my life they abandoned me, my mum, my brother and even my dad. It was only when I was 11 they came back after 8 years, making up some stupid excuse. Yeah, it really did affect me in my life as a teenager and still now. Knowing you didnât have your family to talk to really sucked, especially with all the problems with my parents at that time.
You see, as a kid I always wanted to have this perfect life. I wanted a great boyfriend, a good job and eventually start a family. It was hard for me to get what I have now, and honestly I couldnât wish for any better with Scarlett and Tom.
My parents used to always argue every day and every night. My siblings used to protect me from them arguments, me being the youngest. Eventually once my older sister and brother moved out they got worse. They started to argue more and more but it started to get physical.
Sometimes I would get hurt not just mentally, physically too. I would stand in front of them at around 12 years old trying to stop it, my mum would try swing for my dad and I would get punched in the face. The next day they always were best friends, cuddled up on the sofa like nothing happened. My mum nor dad thought to apologise to me neither. They were both alcoholics at the end of the day and my dad being a druggie.
Anyways enough sad shit, the end of the day Iâm trying to give Scarlett the best life that she can live. I am making sure she can come to me for any problems or whenever sheâs sad, I wanna be a good mother to her the one I never really had.
So, as I was saying. Toms family and hopefully mine will come over today to celebrate Scarlettâs birthday. We had everything set up with the help of Harrison, Harry and Tuwaine of course. Part of the party is outside, we had a small gazebo up with a table full of snacks, drinks and party bags for later. Chairs were also set around the place so everyone could have a seat, alcohol was in cold buckets to keep them cool. The temperature was really hot so we decided to let a small pool out for the kids.
âDarling did I tell you that you look so beautiful today?â Tom wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I was wearing a cute white summery dress with my hair wavy, makeup light.
âaww thanks Tommy.â I rub his arms that are around my waist. âThanks boys, I really appreciate the helpâ I thank Harrison, Harry and Tuwaine.
âItâs okay y/n. We love you, Tom and Scarlett. Weâre always here to helpâ Harrison smiled at me taking a sip from his beer.
âMummy?â Scarlett calls making my head snap back to the little girl who was in her swimming costume. âYes, birthday girlâ I smile going over to her, picking her up.
âI think someoneâs at the doorâ She told me, pointing in the direction. Placing her back down on the grass, I walk over to the door opening it. There stood my brother Charlie with his little boy, Liam. And my sister, Kirsty with her two sons lake and Jake.
âHii, come in. Hello Liam, Lake and Jakeâ I smile at the two 4 year olds and Jake the 12 year old boy. âThanks for comingâ I hug Kirsty then Charlie.
âUncle Charlie, auntie Kirsty!â Scarlett shouts running into there arms. ďżź
âI heard itâs someoneâs birthday today, so I got a little gift. But you canât open it until all the guests have gone as mummyâs requestsâ Charlie told Scarlett. It was true you didnât want her getting her new toys out and either breaking them or other kids playing with them.
âCharlie, Kirsty. Hi how are you both?-Hey little onesâ Tom walked over greeting my siblings and there kids. Obviously there was one more sibling, Kieron, he was sadly sick so he couldnât come. âYou guys want a drink?â Tom offered them.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.
âHi Nikki, you look beautiful as always. Hi Domâ I greet Nikki and Dom as they enter into the garden. Now everyone was basically here, Toms cousins, grandparents, Family friends and others were here. My nan was now here with her husband, Denis.
Also my cousin Ellie and her daughter came. One of my aunties and uncles had arrived too. Sadly this was just my mums side and non was my dads. I mean what did I expect? They of course wouldnât come. But what hurts the most is that My dad or my mum isnât here either.
âWhereâs Sam and Wayne?â Asked Ellie whilst she sips on her drink.
âClearly they ainât coming. I mean itâs been an hour what the fuck is wrong with themâ I scoff, checking the time. I was hurt and it showed a lot.
âHey, donât let them get to you. Itâs alright. Itâs there loss. Anyways letâs play a little bit more better music, whilst I talk to Harrisonâ She winked walking over to the speaker.
âDaddy? Whereâs grandad and nanny? Nanny said she was coming to brwing me my new dollâ Scarlett cried to Tom, them only being a few metre away from me so I could hear. He stopped his conversation to kneel down to his sobbing daughter. He looked over to me, knowing I heard what she said.
âPrincess donât cry, Iâm sure there coming. Maybe there just running lateâ He cooed the now 4 year old. âHow about this. I want you to get water in this water gun and spray uncle Haz, yeah?â He smiled at her making her laugh and nod straight away, running to squirt Harrison with the water gun.
âYou okay?â He walked up to me placing his cup on the table.
âYeah, there probably not gonna come. I mean my dads side of the family most likely ainât. My mum is a bit surprising I did try to call her.â I wanted to cry, I shouldnât cry. I needed to keep it all in, I need to stay strong.
âWell even if they donât come, this is your family here. Family doesnât have to be by blood, baby. Everyone that is my family is yours and Scarlettâs.â He placed his hands on my waist, kissing my forehead.
I smiled a little just by what he had said, âYeah, your right. Itâs not the first time theyâve let me down anywaysâ I watch as Harrison now chases Scarlett with the water gun, her screaming when the cold water hits her.
âMummy! Daddy! Ahhhhâ She screamed laughing, running behind mine and Toms legs. âYou canât get me nowâ She laughed at Harrison.
Harrison smirked pointing the gun at me, âOh yeah well iâll get your mummyâ He looked down at Scarlett then back at me.
âDonât you dare Harrison-â He ignored me squeezing the gun in my face. Scarlett then stepped in front of me, protecting me from this stupid boy in front of me.
âHey! Donât you do that to my mummy! You can do it to daddy not mummy-â She demanded causing Tom to say a âWhat! why me and not mummyâ. âWell mummy is wearing makeup, and has a nice dress on.â She reasoned with her dad, but before he could say anything back she ran over to the pool getting inside it with her cousins.
To the corner of my eye, I saw my Nan and denis talking. âIâll be backâ I told Tom before leaving his side to go speak to them.
âHi Nanny, Denis. Do you know if mum is coming?â I ask them.
âHello darling, Iâm not sure. Her and Wayne had an argument last night and this morning they said they were going out to eat. She was meant to be coming but not so sure nowâ My nan told me, just as I expected. They mustâve had an argument, made up then went to drink and clearly forgot.
âThanks Nanâ I quickly walk away from both of them, going to speak to Nikki and Dom.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..
âHappy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy to ScarlettâŚHappy birthday to you!â We all sang as she blowed out her candles on her beautiful princess cake.ďżź
âDaddy!â She whines as Tom pushed the cake a little into her face, pink frosting going onto her nose.
âHappy birthday, bubbaâ Kissing her on the head, placing her cute princess tiara on there.
âThanks mummyâ She smiled widely placing a kiss on my cheek.
âNow who wants some Cake?â Sam asked taking the cake from Tom, everyone saying whether they wanted any or not. As I looked back at Scarlett, about to ask whether she would like some, she started to look around the garden trying to search for something somebody.
âWhat you looking for?â I chuckle at her face as her eyes wonder around. All she did was huff, running inside the house.
âwhatâs up with the little one?â Ellie questioned, I just shook my head having no clue whatsoever.
Walking pass the people and inside the house, I search the rooms for my daughter. She wasnât in the bathroom, nor her room or the kitchen, so I looked in the last place I thought she could be. Mine and Toms shared bedroom.
And she was thereâŚ.laying on the bed, face planted into the pillow as soft cries escape her mouth.
âBaby, whatâs wrong?â
I worry, sitting by her legs. âGo awayâ was all that she had said before crying even more. âI-I just wanna help honey, donât want you crying on your birthday now do we?â
âDid Nanny and Grandad forget?â she mumbled, almost not hearing her.
âWhat do you mean?â I curiously asked, trying to understand what she meant by what she had said.
âNan and Grandad, they forgot about my birthday! They never come visit anymore, they donât care about meâ She cried into the pillow more. My heart Instantly broke. I never wanted her to feel it, however them even being her grandparents make her feel like they donât care.
âSweetheart, listen sit up look at meâ I tell her, waiting till she gets up, which she does, keeping her head hanging low as sniffles just come out. âNanny and Grandad Love you so so much. They just- listen your too young to understand right now but they do care. Nanny and grandad havenât been feeling well lately.. They do care about you so much, okay. I used to feel like that all the time with them. They just have many problems going on right nowâ I lied. I had to lie to my own daughter because of them.
âIâm still upset and angryâ she admitted finally looking at me in the eyes.
âAnd thatâs okay. Your allowed to be upset and angry by them. But baby you have everyone else, you have nanny nikki and grandad Dom here.â I explain to her.
âYeah and you have your cousins, your mummy and daddy here.â Tom walked into the room, hearing the conversation knowing it was breaking your heart too. ďżź
âThwankssâ She smiled hugging me tight.
âHow about letâs go outside and have some cake. We can finish the party?â I offer her smiling a âyes pleaseâ.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.
The party had finally died down, I was now sitting on a chair with Scarlett sleeping on me with her head nestled in my neck. She was now in the dress she had gotten into earlier that Nikki brought for her. She was shattered after being in the sun all day and dancing around to the music and playing with her family. She had such a good birthday party.
âLittle birthday girl mustâve been tiredâ Charlie pointed to her sleeping body on me. âYeah had a good dayâ I smiled, looking at the floor, my mood showing more since everyone had left.
âYou okay?â
âY-yeah, just tired now thatâs allâ Faking a smile on my face.
âListen I know your hurt and upset just donât take it to heart. There a bunch of idiots y/nâ He kissed my forehead. âIâm gonna go now, iâll see you laterâ He said, getting his things ready.
Once I had said my goodbyes to him, Tom came over to me sitting in the seat next to me. âWant me to carry her to bed?â Tom offered rubbing my leg.
âNo itâs okay, Needed to go inside to get black bags anywaysâ I half-smiled standing up holding Scarlett trying not to wake her up.
Then walking into the house and straight to her bed room, taking off her dress to put her pjs on. Tucking her in, she started to stir awake so I slowly shut the lights off, leaving the room with the door a little bit open.
Now everyone had left, when I walked out of Scarlettâs bedroom Tom was saying goodbye to his brothers and thanking them for coming. He shut the door behind him, looking over at me. He knew I was still upset, he just knew not to ask.
âRight some of the rubbish is in the bin, thanks to your brothers. So thereâs only a little more to do, just need to put the left over drinks in the fridge and the food in the bin if itâs been eatenâ I instructed him, we both instantly getting to work. It didnât take that long to clean, we was gonna leave some to do tomorrow as it was getting dark.
âPhew. Iâm so happy thatâs all-â I couldnât finish my sentence as the door bell rang, multiple of times. Running to the door, quickly opening the it so the person doesnât wake up Scarlett.
There stood the two people I didnât want to see at all. My mum and dad. Both were of course ďżź wreaking of alcohol and my dad of strong weed. âNopeâ I said going to shut the door on their faces, my dad holding it pushing it open. âNo. Get out I donât want you hereâ I didnât want to see them because I knew I would break then and there.
âY/n my darling, itâs Scarlettâs birthdayâ My mum slurred being too loud, making Tom come inside seeing both my parents.
âShut up yours going to wake scarlett, the party was hours ago you missed it so leave. You stink of alcohol and-â I see my dad pull out a packet of weed. âWhat the fuck! I said I didnât want that near my daughter, nor my house get that out now!â I whisper yell at him.
âDonât speak to your dad like that!â My mum snapped at me, making me look at her up and down.
âPlease leave, youâve done enough. You donât even realise how much you ruined Scarlettâs birthday sheâs was so upset you didnât come, she thought you forgot and that you donât care about herâ I couldnât care anymore they needed to hear this.
âY/n stop being pathetic- oh Hi Tomâ My mum changed her tone towards Tom, making me roll my eyes as he even knows itâs an act.
âJust get out please, thatâs all Iâm askingâ I plead to them both loosing my patients.
âY/n I wanna see Scarlett itâs her birthdayâ She started to walk towards her room but I stepped in front of her, snapping.
âSCARLETT IS ASLEEP. YOU FUCKING SAID THAT ALREADY YOU CAME LATE SO GET THE FUCK OUT! I DONâT WANT TWO ALCOHOLICS IN MY HOUSE WHERE MY DAUGHTER AND FIANCE LIVE, ITS FUCKING EMBARRASSING!â I scream at both of them, tears streaming down my face, regretting saying it as I saw my dads face.
He stepped towards me making me back away, âWhat did you just say?â He scrunched his fists by his sides.
Tom immediately seeing my feared face steping in the middle of us. âWe will visit you another day, weâre very tired after a long dayâ Tom spoke nicely trying to not start anything. Surprisingly it worked. They both left slamming the door behind them.
âI knew they would do it. Why do they have to be like this! My dads family didnât even come and see her. They didnât leave a fucking messageâ I cried into his arms burying my head inside his chest.
âshhh darling itâs okayâ Tom soothed stroking my back.
âMummy? Why you crying?â I heard that sweet voice behind me, making me turn to her. She rubbed her eyes, most likely waking up from the shouting.
âIâm okay princess, go back to sleepâ Fake smiling.
âI heard mummy, itâs okay really. My party was still really good. I know Nanny and Grandad are just having problemsâ She smiled, she was really smart for a four year old. âDonât cry mummy pleaseâ she said holding her teddy bear, with a tear rolling down her face.
âI wanna see my two favourite girls happy, so what weâre gonna do isâŚMummy and I will get ready for bed then Scarlett you wanna sleep in our bed tonight? We can watch any movie you want?â Tom suggested making me smile.
âyessss, thank you daddyâ She jumped up and down. We then got ready for bed, brushing our teeth, washing our faces and then getting under the covers. We put on a princess movie, laying comfortably all together as a family.
I wasnât sad anymore, I was with my family, who I know love me for me and will always be here.
Toms family is mine too.
Itâs true what Tom said, family isnât just by blood.
