I stood picking at my fingers as I sat in Steve's Office the entire team was gone and I didn't know when they were going to be back. I made my way to his large chair and curled up pulling my legs to my chest. I bit my lip, I hadn't been feeling well so I took the day off. Like a normal person. Well life's about to get a whole lot less normal. I yawned as I looked around his office.
I didn't realize I had fallen asleep until a soft kiss was pressed to my forehead. I opened my eyes to Steve smiling down at me as I laid curled up in his chair.
"What are you doing?" He said as I uncurled myself. I placed my hand on my stomach. I looked up to him. "What did the doctor say?" he sat in one of the chairs on the other side of his desk kicking his feet up on the edge of the wood. I bit my lip, Steve tilted his head. "Y/N?" he asked. I looked up meeting his green eyes.
"I'm pregnant." The door opened as the words spilled out of my mouth. Kono stood in the door gaping.
"I'm 100% sure I wasn't supposed to hear that," She said "I'll go." She turned and closed the door. I looked to the ground until I heard Steve's chair squeak. I looked up to be met with his stupid smile. It was contagious It had to be because it spread to my face soon after.
"A baby?" he pointed to my stomach. I nodded. The door to Steve's office shot open. Danny stood there panting heavily.
"You- baby- Him." His words came out choppy as he struggled to catch his breath. I stood up and looked at Steve
"Is he ok?" Steve shrugged
"Give him a minute." Danny took a couple of deep breaths as he leaned against the door. The color finally returned to his face.
"You’re pregnant?" He asked looking at me.
I nodded as Steve made his way across the desk. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my lips. His hands finding their way to my stomach. All I could do was smile.
The next six months flew by and I was completely and utterly miserable. While I love Steve with all of my heart I wanted to sock him in his perfect face.
I waddled into the kitchen my back protesting. I smelt the sweet smell of bacon wafting from its place in the pan. Steve stood shirtless with his back to the doorway. Danny sat at the island sipping on coffee and reading the newspaper. He was the first one to notice me.
"Mornin Baby Momma." Steve shot him a look over his shoulder.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to call her that."
I walked over to Steve and wrapped my arms around his back.
"It's just a joke Steve calm down." I kissed his bare back chuckling as the seal bristled. The bacon sizzled in the pan. Steve cursed as the hot oil hit his hand. "Are you ok?"
"Yea." he said I let him go as he went to the sink to rinse his hand. That's when I got a view of the bacon. It was almost burnt. I stepped forward and grabbed the tongs and moved it over to the plate.
"What did the bacon do to you?" I grumbled. I slid the plate onto the island towards Danny.
"Hey, My Bacon." I rolled my eyes looking to Danny.
"So I have two children now."
(Maternity Outfits)
I rushed down the stairs as Steve called from the door.
"We're going to be late!" I rolled my eyes.
"You won't even tell me where we're going so I don't see what the big deal is." Steve hurried out the door behind me Danny sat in the driveway laying on the horn. Which I lovingly returned with the middle finger. He laughed from the driver seat. Steve opened the door of the car and pulled the seat up. He stood back and looked at me. "Your joking right?" I said my voice even. He gave me a confused look. Danny gripped the steering wheel laughing.
"What?" I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Steven get in the back." I groaned pushing him into the car.
"What did I do?" I crawled into the front seat supporting my stomach. Danny explained in the simplest terms that you don't make a nine-month pregnant woman sit in the back seat of a two door car.
When we pulled up in front of Kono's place I eyed the men suspiciously,
"Why are we here?" Steve smiled and put a hand on my lower back leading me to the door. "I don't like that your quiet," I said. I looked to Danny "He's never quiet." Danny chuckled and rang the doorbell twice and then opened the door. Reluctantly I walked in first. The lights were off and the house was quiet. My senses were screaming to run but Danny and Steve were calm so I wasn't about to book it. We walked into the back yard.
"Surprise!" my hands shot to my stomach as the team surrounded me.
"Ya'll are lucky I didn't have my gun!" I cried. They laughed as I walked to a chair. Steve looked at me.
"Are you ok?" I nodded placing my hands on my stomach. A sharp pain caused me to wince. Steve crouched in front of me. "Are you sure." I felt a rush of liquid and my eyes widened.
"Steve." I grabbed at his hand that was on the side of the chair. The team had caught on that something was wrong and gathered around.
"Y/N what's wrong."
"My water just broke." I gasped. A look of fear crossed his face.
"I'll call an ambulance." Kono reached for her phone. I shook my head. "Steve, we need to go." He nodded and looked to Danny who threw him his keys.
"Don't have that kid in my car Y/N." I would have laughed but another shot of pain ran through me.
The ride to the hospital was stressful to say the least. From dealing with contractions to praying that Steve wouldn't kill us all I had my hands full. Steve pulled the car door open and helped my up. I grabbed his hand tightly as he wrapped his free arm around my swollen frame.
"Hey I need help over here!" Steve yelled as he walked into the emergency entrance. I groaned of course he'd make a scene. All eyes were on us as nurses rushed towards us. "She went into labor-"
"Steve for god's sake shut up." I growled my patience running thin. I looked at the nurse and smiled as she brought me a wheelchair.
"My water broke about 20 minutes ago," I explained "The contractions are about 13 minutes apart." Steve followed like a lost puppy as the nurse pushed me to the birthing room.
"Are you going to have a natural birth or an epidural?" The nurse asks as she helped me into the bed. I looked at her and shrugged.
"I'll let you know when I start pushing." I chuckled. The nurse gave me a quick smile and started to get set up. Steve stood next to me rubbing his hands together. He looked all together nervous.
“Is the big bad SEAL nervous?” I asked reaching for one of his hands. He looked down to me grabbing my hand. “I’m sorry about the party.” He smiled at me
“It’s fine they’ll understand.” He brought his hand up to my hair running it through. A contraction hit and I squeezed Steves hand.
Within an hour my contractions had shortened to five minutes apart. The nurse walked in as I grit my teeth and squeezed Steves hand. His face was turning red and I’m sure it was due to the pressure I was putting on his hand. A doctor soon followed.
“Mrs. Mcgarrett, are you ready to start pushing?” I looked at the doctor then to Steve who shrugged.
“Yes.” I groaned throwing my head back. Steve stood by my side holding my hand.
“You got this baby.” He kissed my forehead as another contraction hit.
“Ok You gotta push.” Said the nurse. I squeezed Steve’s hand so hard I swore I heard a crack. But he stood next to me holding my hand firmly.
“You are doing so good baby, you are going to be such a good mom.” his words flooded my ears as I pushed harder. The pain was flooding my system. “You are so amazing I am so lucky to have you.”
The contraction ended and my head fell back. The doctor looked up at me.
“Your labor is going surprisingly fast,” he smile “One or two more times just like that and your baby is going to be here.” I looked over to Steve giving him a tired smile.
“I love you.” I whispered he leaned down and kissed my lips.
“I love you too.”
I cringed as another contraction hit.
“ok momma you gotta push.” The nurse said from next to me. I pushed; Steve grit his teeth as I let out a scream. He rubbed circles into the back of my hand. The nurse came and took my other hand. My parents lived in (H/S) and couldn’t fly all the way out here.
“Your doing great.” The doctor said. I gave one last push. My breathing was labored.
A cry filled the room. Tears came to my eyes as the doctor wrapped the baby in a towel.
“It’s a girl.” I looked up to Steve his smile was huge. He was probably thinking of all the boys he gets to scare off when she is older. The doctor clenched the umbilical cord and turned to Steve. “Would you like to do the honors?”
Steve nodded and the doctor handed him the scissors.
I held Charlie in my arms bouncing her lightly. Her tiny hand laid against my chest. The door to the room opened and the team filed in. Danny and Steve in the lead.
“This is Charlie.” I said looking to the sleeping baby in my arms. I watched my daughter sleep her small eyes fluttered. Steve sat on the bed next to me his shoulder pressed against mine. He reached down to fix the beanie on her head when Charlies eyes shot open. She looked up at him with her green eyes and her tiny hand reached up and grabbed him finger.
The entire team watched in awe as the baby wrapped the Seal around her little finger. He smiled tears filed his eyes.
“Our daughter.” I mumbled leaning my head against Steve’s broad shoulder.
“Our daughter.”
