Table For Two (plus a highchair)
Dada Louis, Mama Olivia & Little Reader
Lock in, itâs a bit of a longer one. Reader is more of a discreet little for the most part because thatâs just more what Iâm comfortable with. I feel awkward both reading and writing stories where the reader is suor openly little in public. If you donât like it, donât read it
You were in a small headspace before your feet even hit the ground that morning.
Some days you woke up chatty and silly, ready to play pretend and color and sing little songs. But not today. Today youâd woken up already deep in babyspace, snuggled between Mama Olivia and Dada Louis in your favorite fuzzy pajamas, your pacifier in your mouth and your whole body curled close to Mamaâs side.
âHi, baby,â Olivia whispered as your eyes blinked open slowly. âOh, I see. Weâve got a tiny one today, huh?â
You nodded just once, not even taking your paci out.
Louis was already reaching for you, pulling you gently into his arms. âCâmere, sweet pea. Dadaâs got you.â
You didnât say a word. You didnât want to. All you wanted was to be held. Soft things. Safe things. Familiar things. Oliviaâs voice, Louisâs chest, your bunny stuffie. Everything else felt too much.
But you didnât fuss. You were just very quiet. Very small.
âShould we take her out for a little walk?â Olivia asked after breakfast, where youâd barely eaten anything besides a few bites of banana off Mamaâs fingers.
Louis was already buckling your shoes. âShe could use the fresh air. We'll keep it calm.â
They took you to a quiet, sunny cafĂŠ they both likedâa cozy little place tucked between a florist and a bookstore, with sidewalk tables shaded by big umbrellas.
The hostess barely looked twice at you as Louis held you on his hip and Olivia carried your diaper bag. You were tucked into a chair with Bunny beside you before the server even came by.
Olivia had ordered you soft scrambled eggs and mashed avocado, which you mostly poked at, before deciding youâd rather be held. You reached your arms up toward Louis and gave a quiet, desperate âDaa-daâŚâ
âOkay, baby,â he said immediately, scooping you up. âCome here, yeah?â
He settled you in his lap while Olivia sliced your toast into little hearts with the butter knife, humming gently. Just as you started to relax again, a soft voice broke the bubble.
âSorry, Iââ a girl, maybe in her twenties, hovered beside the table. âOh my God, are you Olivia Rodrigo?â
Olivia smiled politely but didnât shift away from you. âHi, yeah. Thatâs me.â
âOh goodness, and youâre Louis Partridge!â The girl nearly shrieked.
You froze.
Your body stiffened immediately in Louisâs arms as your fingers clutched his shirt.
âSheâs feeling a bit shy today,â Louis said softly, rubbing your back.
âOhâsorry, I didnât mean to interrupt. I just wanted to say I love your stuff,â the fan said quickly. âI wonât bother you guys.â
âThanks for being kind,â Olivia said sweetly. âWeâre just having a quiet day.â
The girl gave a quick smile and left just as quickly.
You didnât make a peep, just buried your face into Louisâs shirt and held on tighter.
âShe didnât even come too close,â Olivia murmured, leaning over to rub your back. âYouâre okay, baby. Mamaâs here.â
You peeked up at her with big, round eyes, and a tiny whimper slipped out.
Louis kissed your forehead. âYou want to switch to Mamaâs lap for a bit?â
You nodded immediately and let him lift you into Oliviaâs arms, where you sighed and melted against her like a puddle.
âShhh, itâs alright,â she whispered, rocking you gently even while sitting. âAll done now. Just us.â
But it wasnât quite all done.
-
When the rest of your food arrived and you let Olivia feed you a few bites, another couple sitting two tables over pointed and whispered something. They didnât approachâbut one of them pulled out their phone and discreetly started recording.
Oliviaâs gaze sharpened immediately. She turned slightly to shield your face, her hand instinctively smoothing your hair down.
Louis frowned. âDo you want me to say something?â
âLetâs just finish eating and get going,â she murmured. âSheâs already overwhelmed.â
You didnât fully understand the exchange, but you felt it. The shift in energy. The edge of discomfort that had crept into their easy rhythm.
You whimpered softly again and held up your arms.
âOh, baby,â Olivia said immediately, cradling you closer. âYou wanna go home already?â
You nuzzled into her chest, nodding once.
They didnât leave right away. Olivia still finished her meal in soft bites, one hand curled around your back as she gently swayed you in her arms. Louis made sure the check was paid discreetly, and he helped slip Bunny under your arm.
But the moment you were back outside, you heard it againâsomeone calling Oliviaâs name from across the street.
You flinched so hard you nearly tripped over your own two feet.
Louis was quick to stop you toppling over as he gently stepped in front of the camera.
âNo photos today, thanks,â he said, trying to sound friendly but firm.
The fans didnât pushâbut they still lingered. Two teenage girls waved shyly and whispered, âSheâs so cute,â as they passed by.
You turned your face into Olivia again, your tiny body trembling slightly, overwhelmed by the extra attention.
âOkay, enough,â Olivia murmured. âWeâre cutting through the park. Fewer people.â
The side path they took was quiet and lined with trees, and the moment the sounds of the crowd faded behind you, your body relaxed again.
Olivia rubbed your back slowly as she picked you up and carried you. âYou did so good, baby girl. Mama's so proud of you.â
You let out a tired little soundâhalf whine, half sighâand reached one hand out behind you until Louisâs fingers found yours.
âIâve got you too, darling,â he murmured. âAlways.â
You stopped into a boutique bakery on the corner to grab a croissant and some takeaway coffee before heading back to the car. Inside, it was quiet, and the warm smell of cinnamon and sugar seemed to ease you instantly. You sat on Louisâs hip, watching the barista with droopy eyes while Olivia picked out treats.
âHi there,â the barista said brightly. âI just have to sayâyou have the cutest little family.â
You blinked slowly up at her and tightened your hold on Louisâs shirt again.
âThank you,â Louis said warmly, shifting you slightly. âWeâve had a big morning.â
The barista smiled. âHave a sweet day.â
Once they were finally back outside, with coffee in hand and your bunny cradled close to your chest, the city felt a little gentler. You were still quiet. Still clinging. But not shaking anymore. Not hiding as deeply.
And your caregivers noticed.
Olivia leaned over and brushed a kiss to your cheek. âYouâre being such a brave girl.â
âYouâve had a lot of people looking at you today, havenât you?â Louis added gently, squeezing your thigh. âStill doing so good.â
You tucked your face into his neck and let out a soft, sleepy coo.
The walk back to the car was slow. Louis carried you the whole way, one hand under your discreetly diapered bottom, the other holding Bunny securely. You were already halfway asleep, your cheek pressed to his shoulder.
Olivia unlocked the car and opened the back door, laying a soft muslin blanket in your seat. You whimpered quietly as Louis moved to buckle you in, your hands reaching out blindly.
âNo, no, no, baby, itâs okay,â Olivia said quickly, kneeling down beside the seat. âMamaâs right here.â
âMmmmâŚâ you whimpered again, blinking up at her through glossy eyes.
Louis leaned down and kissed your cheek before popping your pacifier in your mouth. âWeâll sit with you once weâre home, little one. Just a short drive, alright?â
Olivia stroked your cheek and let you hold one of her fingers. âWeâll play a lullaby. I bet youâll be asleep before the second verse.â
True to her word, she queued up your favorite sleepy playlist before they even left the parking lot.
By the time you turned onto your street, you were completely outâhead tilted to the side, Bunny tucked under your arm, pacifier gently bobbing.
Back home, Olivia carried you straight to the nursery while Louis grabbed the bag from the trunk. She sat down in the rocking chair, still holding you, and began to hum softly as she swayed.
Your eyes fluttered open for just a second when you felt her settle in.
You blinked once.
Then you saw her face.
Then closed your eyes again.
And sighed.
âShhh,â she whispered, rocking you. âBack to sleep, baby girl. You were such a good girl at lunch. Mamaâs so proud of you.â
Louis entered the room quietly and smiled at the sightâhis two girls, rocking softly in the golden light of the afternoon.
He knelt beside the chair and kissed your forehead, then Oliviaâs.
âCouldnât ask for a better little day,â he whispered.
âNope,â Olivia agreed, still rocking. âWeâre the luckiest.â
