My personal opinion is that you don't have a right to expect a whole lot from celebrities when you approach them on their off time. I've found myself in a lot of random places with a lot of celebrities (shopping at American Apparel, in line a Starbucks, walking in the park, etc etc), and my rule is that I never bother them if they're not working. When they're making appearances, or at some other public event, then yeah, they should give time to their fans. When they're shooting, they usually take time out to say hello to people on set.

But they're just regular people and sometimes they're not in the mood to socialize, just like anyone else. That doesn't necessarily give anyone the excuse to be rude or cruel, and I totally understand why you would approach her at the airport (it could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, after all!), but meeting a celeb on an "off" day doesn't necessarily mean they're arrogant or snobbish in general. You may have just caught her at a bad time, she may have been tired or sick or...who knows what. They're people like us, and while you'll find that sometimes celebrities are really open to being approached in public, other times they want to just go about their business and not be treated like a zoo animal.
