Space Audissey combines the lyricism we appreciate from 90’s hip hop, the soul we adore in afro centric sistas, and the sonic progression within a piece of music that continuously pushes a genre forward. We are talking about raw bars from a female MC who could with ease stand toe to toe to most if not all male hip hop artist in the Detroit hip hop community bar for bar. What D.S. Sense does with this album is use her understanding of hip hop knowledge and culture to craft a collection of music which takes elements from the history and fuses them with contemporary forms of sound. It’s old, it’s fresh. It’s soulful. It’s raw. Space Audissey is a space odyssey. Mad love to D.S. Sense for doing her thing in hip hop on behalf of the feminine spirit, as well as this full meal album she blessed us with. She’s definitely a cool beat!
