You know all the "Papyrus is the knight" theories? Well, in honor of Deltarune coming out today, I'm sharing my little jokey headcanon that Papyrus is, in fact, the DM of a Dungeons and Dragons game I've been calling D&DRune.
Frisk is Kris, of course, Flowey's character is Ralsei, and Undyne's character is Susie. (In fact, I kind of based Vida's design off of Susie... Dragonborn barbarian? Undyne definitely has a favorite type of character to play.)
Deltarune has all the insanities of a D&D game, and it's fun to think of reasons for why things happen in Deltarune. Like, maybe Undyne joined the game later or wasn't sure she would be a permanent part of the campaign, which is why Susie is an enemy for a little while. And the reason Rouxls Kaard's puzzles are so simple is because of D&D players' tendencies to get stuck behind an unlocked door, which Papyrus learned the hard way.
Also, I came up with a way that Papyrus would have used cards to make a unique battle mechanic for the Jevil fight, which he would have had a blast figuring out. Definitely a homebrew user.
So yeah. Deltarune is just a Dungeons and Dragons game being played by Undertale characters, and Papyrus is the dungeon master pulling the strings. So... I guess you could say Papyrus is the knight!
