Some of my favourite painted minis
Homemade Beholder
I didn’t have a beholder mini at the time so I made one using Sculpey Air Dry Modeling Clay, toothpicks, sewing pins and a clear decorative glass rock for the eye. The image on the left shows it unfinished. I started out with a ball of clay a little bigger than a golf ball. The toothpicks around the head were just to create the holes for the eye stalks. I ended up using large-headed sewing pins with different colored ends for them which I bent and wrapped in clay. The tongue is secured into the mouth with another toothpick and glue. The main eye was also glued on at the end after painting. The image on the right is the finished mini. I’m happy with how it turned out! It’s painted in layers of brown and bronze with earth-tone washes and sealed with glossy mod podge to give it that gross wet look xD
