⇢ day five of namkook week 2018
Namjoon looks around the gallery, still unable to comprehend what he's seeing.
Everywhere he looks, all he sees is his face staring back at him.
Countless of photos blown up to cover each and every wall. All of them are selling, not a single photo hasn't been bought and Namjoon can't believe it.
People have been introducing themselves to him all night. A few managers, a few model companies, and countless artists have given him their business cards. He takes them and shoves them in his back pocket, not doing a very good job of hiding how distracted he is.
No one seems to mind that he can't tear his eyes away from the photographs because everyone else can't keep their gazes from them either.
There are so many photos and so many moments captured that Namjoon can't even remember when a camera was pointed at him. Of course, he can tell which ones are the earlier ones back when he was still camera shy because there's a nervous look in his eyes that has been captured perfectly by the camera.
Captured perfectly by Jeongguk.
As Namjoon ventures even deeper into the gallery, he finds that the photos are taking on a different feeling now. There are soft touches and edges to the photographs, some taken at twilight, others at sunset and one at sunrise when Jeongguk dragged Namjoon out of bed and took him to a hill. The only downside to having a photographer as your roommate.
Getting up at the asscrack of dawn and having your face blown up to cover walls for the general public to view is probably another downside as well. But Namjoon can't be all that sure.
They say that a picture holds a thousand words, and with how many photos there are of Namjoon right now, he's pretty sure they'd be longer than his college thesis.
Jeongguk's saying a lot. Saying the same thing in different ways. Saying different things in the same way. It's chaos and it's not at the same time.
There's so much going on, but Namjoon knows. He knows what Jeongguk is saying with each and every photo.
It's the same thing Namjoon has been wanting to say for a while now and as he keeps walking, he keeps progressing into the photos, following the timeline.
Adoration is shining in his eyes whenever he finds a photo of himself staring into the camera. His dimples sink into his cheeks and there's just so much love in his expression that Namjoon could pretty much choke on the sweetness of it all.
It's love. It's love that paints every photo, love that pours out of Namjoon and when Namjoon finally finds Jeongguk, his roommate is surrounded by people singing praise to him. Jeongguk looks up to meet his gaze and Namjoon can tell that he's nervous, but he smiles at the elder anyway and Namjoon smiles back.
There's love between them and Namjoon intends to lay it all out on the table soon, but for now, right here at Jeongguk's debut on the art scene, he'll wait until they're alone again to press his lips to Jeongguk's and tell him just how much he loves him. Just as much as Jeongguk has shown him.
Namjoon turns to the photo at his left and stares at his profile. Jeongguk had often taken photos of him while he was studying and this one isn't all that different. Only the title makes Namjoon pause.
When Time Stood Still
Namjoon examines how he hunches over his books in the photo, nose practically buried in the pages with a highlighter in his hand. His face is cupped in his palm, looking focused, but Namjoon knows that on that particular day, Jeongguk had gotten laid off his job at the coffee shop and decided to throw himself completely into photography. At that precise moment then, Jeongguk had told him his plans as he fiddled with the camera in his hands and Namjoon hadn't even bothered to look up as he responded, didn't even need to think because he already knew what to say.
"I'll support you no matter what, Gukk. If anyone can do it, you can."
Jeongguk had set his camera down and kissed him not too soon after that and though they never spoke of it again, Namjoon knows he's ready to now.
He's ready to lay it all out because a photo speaks a thousand words and Jeongguk has an entire essay written about how much he loves Namjoon.
