In 1999 I was asked to write a string piece in honor of Dr. Louis Swift, who was retiring as the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Kentucky. This is a live recording of the piece being performed at Dr. Swift's retirement ceremony by the Cypress String Quartet on April 5th, 1999.

Chinese American composer, Chen Yi's multi-media work,"The Angel Island Passages" (2010), in collaboration with the San Francisco Girls Chorus, the Cypress String Quartet, and filmmaker Felicia Lowe, commemorates the 100th anniversary of Angel Island Immigration Station. Using music, poetry, film, video, and photography, this new work evokes the experiences of Chinese immigrants to America.
