the the hours draw to an end

anticipation’s promises begin slowly creeping in

illusions to what the night will bring, permeate  the air

as the sun sets and obligations cease

i feel the wind’s familiar whisper 

foretelling of your arrival 

one world slowly recedes as another is reborn

embracing naught but you and i, alone

once more lost in your eyes

warmed by your passion

weakened by your scent

my heart

my soul

no longer my own

now unabashedly yours

we swirl into a universe of our own creation

protected from whatever may wish to intercede

joined as one

we give in to the shadows 

but as dawn begins to peer through my windows

i watch you fade once more 

into the shadows from whence you came

a mere apparition
