#cycle18week3

This was one of my favorite photoshoots of the cycle! I liked the concept and it was awesome how the girls got to be in control of everything. It was like the Shoe photoshoot from Cycle 2 taken up a couple notches.

I will start by saying although this is my second call out it was incredibly close, and if I was actually ranking these on the show AzMarie would take the top spot since she excelled in managing her team. But these rankings are based solely on the photos, so AzMarie takes silver. Still, this shot is incredible. AzMarie’s edgy androgyny is just working, in fact AzMarie is the only person on this show who has truly rocked the androgynous role in her photos. This shot is casual yet dramatic, and the clothes pop. I adore the contrast of the red blazer with the full black set. It is just so editorial.

It was nearly impossible for me to decide between AzMarie and Sophie for FCO this week. The deciding factor is that Sophie’s eyes are tiny bit unfocused here. Other than that this is a stellar photo! I adore the motion Sophie brought to her pose and she’s selling every part of the outfit like a pro. I especially love the way she’s holding up the hat. There’s a quirky retro/vintage vibe to this shot that I absolutely love and I could easily see it running in any major magazine. This is my favorite shot of Sophie’s throughout the competition!

The Top 3 all did an incredible job this week. This is probably my favorite shot in Kyle’s portfolio, there’s something so electric about it. Her leap is so simple and controlled that it’s almost like she’s levitating. Her body language has the perfect amount of tension and the clothes look amazing. I think her expression is slightly psychotic but in a fashionable way. Kyle fully embodied the punk love vibe that the American team was going for and it resulted in a terrific photograph.

I love Laura’s creativity in this shot. Her kick seems so effortless, and the way she’s keeping her body open to the camera is keeping the full outfit on display despite having her body in profile. Her bone structure looks great from this angle and I like her determined stare. The thing keeping this shot from my top 3 is that her arms look sort of short and I don’t like the way her hands are awkwardly flailing around behind her. It’s still another strong showing from Laura though!

I do wish Louise had decided to stay because I think shot would’ve given her a lot of momentum. The pose is simple but still pretty cool, and she’s definitely selling the outfit very well. While I love her neck extension, something about the angle is making her jaw seem rather heavily. Her is expression is a bit too pissy as well, but she’s definitely serving intensity. It’s one of the stronger photos this week and easily Louise’s best showing yet.

Props to Annaliese for going for a jump shot but the execution isn’t quite there. Her expression is a bit too vacant, although she did photograph beautifully. Despite having her limbs spread out she managed to look tall, plus the clothes look great on her. I still hate that giant flower though. It’s a solid picture of Annaliese but it doesn’t really stand out from the rest of the bunch.

Seymone’s shot is the opposite of Alisha’s: I love everything except for her face. Her legs are incredible and I like the way she’s pressing up against the wall. She’s modeling every part of her outfit well too. Her facial expression is a little too mean though, and I don’t like how far forward she tilted her head. If she had given a gentler look and brought her head up slightly this would’ve been up a couple spots.
