Cyber Bytes Explained
Cyber Bytes, usually referred to as "Bytes" or "Cyber Entities", are essentially just creatures or people who mainly live or were born in a cyber dimension. Bytes come in a variety of shapes, forms, and classes, but the most common are: Rudimentary, Virus, and Hacker
Rudimentaries are essentially your "humans". Their jobs usually consist of making sure everything runs so the actual humans don't lose their minds over something fucking up on the internet, games, tablets, etc. They're the ones who keep sites running, working with web devs and such, help run wifi for games, and so on and so forth. The jobs are usually safe and as long as they remember to leave that specific devices world, they're fine. They're jobs are usually monotonous and boring, but seeing what humans come up with (memes) makes it a little more bearable.Â
Viruses are self-explanatory. They're the ones who cause all the bad things to happen to your devices from trojans to full on identity theft. Viruses are like Hackers, in that they crave data but they are far less "refined" about getting it and opt to do so in the most destructive way possible. They don't really care about the data they get, they just want to eat it. Other Viruses simply want to cause mass destruction while some don't do much with their power besides small pranks (are considered rougher Hackers). Due to how the majority mess with humans and other Bytes, Viruses are usually hated by many people. Only now have virus protection and firewalls stopped deleting some on site, making them go through a lot to prove they aren't there to harm.
Hackers are "softer" versions of Viruses. They crave data but most want the challenge of "hacking" to get it rather than bulldozing their way in. Hackers are one of the most intelligent Bytes in existence but because of the large amounts of data they consume, most are either depressed or monotone in nature. Some of the oldest Bytes in the cyber world are Hackers and serve as archival systems or "elders'.
Common characteristics of Bytes:
Bytes come in all shapes and sizes bu always have bits of "data" floating around them, their version of aura. You can tell what mood they're in or what their intentions are by the colors of their aura (Red=hostile, Green=neutral, Blue=helpful, etc). The most noticeable thing about them are their eyes.Bytes standard eyes are squares with the sclera being black with faint green lines criss-crossing. But like their aura, it changes depending on their mood (squares=neutral/calm, circles=pleased/happy, triangles=angry/violent). These can also overlap into other emotions like arousal and hunger.Â
Another important fact is their mouths. Bytes have blue tongues with purple/bluish saliva, this saliva are actually strings of code they put together. Bytes have a few ways of transferring data and saliva is the easiest way and can also be a form of identification so others know this isn't a copycat "program". If a Byte exchanges data or "kisses" another byte, it's usually for transferring of data. Which means A LOT of data/knowledge is being transferred. If a Byte were to do this to human, demon, angel, essentially a non-Byte, a number of things could happen. The usual reaction is they pass out from data overload but if the Byte has intense emotion behind it, it can result in death, temporary confusion, and even arousal. This is why most bytes don't associate romantically with those outside of their species but some have and have made it work.
General Knowledge:Â
Bytes have very long life spans since they are essentially walking pieces of data. They're usually allergic to new programs as well, don't do well in the cold or intense heat, and love learning new things. They're also fluent in every language (well if the program they learned it from is good anyway) but their native tongue is binary.
