I started studying behavioral biology this year πΏ Since I have to watch several Dokumentations in one week I decided to start this new series: Animal of the week β¨
This weeks animal of the week: Sandpiper (Calidris)
The Sandpipers belong to the waders or shorebirds and include quite a lot of species. They love to eat small invertebrates.
Sandpipers have looong legs and bodies (work it girl!!), and narrow wings. They measure 12 to 66cm.
They have quite a cosmopolitan distrubution, occurring most of the world's land surface exept for Antartica and the driest deserts. Who would like to live there anyways? A majority breed at moderat to high latitudes in the Northern Henisphere.
Oh and they are reaaally cute. Duh.
