" don't worry about me, okay? i can mind myself. i just want you to be safe. "
This made her heart beat out of her chest. Try as she might, those words did not seem to convince her at all. It's not like their current predicament was any better, it only increased her worry about the other's safety. As much as he wanted her to remain unharmed, her stubbornness to look after the others was her one weakness & reason she'd probably get herself killed one day- If anything, this might make his worry justified, knowing her.
ā Are you crazy, Saihara-kun ?! D-Don't you get it ? These guys won't stop until they get their hands on us ! ā
This was the curse of being an ultimate, she assumed. A sudden outbreak within society, demanding to hunt down all ultimates & god knows what will happen once they get their hands on them. As if the world being at the brink of ending wasn't enough, now they had to deal with an organization-- A group-- People who have lost their damn minds and want nothing but to stop the "last hope of humanity" because it's "way better to die together in despair".... Or something along those lines. She didn't really bother to understand- It was already hard to process that she was forced to let go of her family & friends, and the next thing she knew, she was slapped across the face with maniacs after her neck. And in situations like this, not even knowing that she wasn't the only one dealing with this stress was reassuring-- It was soul-crushing.
She had met the young detective a few weeks back during their run-away from these people, and of course, with how their personalities complemented one another, the two of them grew closer to each other. She considered him her best friend, at this point, and it was quite nice to be confined in someone during these harsh times. Though today was a rather cruel reminder of their situation-- The closer she got to someone, the more she realized that life was forcing her to let them go. Family... Friends, and now possibly Shuichi. She couldn't bear the thought.
This was unfair. How did the Ultimate Hunt find them this easily?! For a moment she really thought they were safe in this hiding spot they've been living in, but from the looks of it, all of this was just wishful thinking. They've been found out, and now surrounded. There was the opportunity of running away, but it wouldn't work without a distraction. It was stressful, hiding in a room when an entire building was surrounded by the ones who wanted them dead more than anything. But what was more stressful, is the so-called "plan" the other proposed. Distracting them to give her the opportunity to get away?! Like hell, she was going to just say yes to that! ā I-I can't do this. I can't leave you behind like this -! ā She replied in a somewhat shaky tone. As if she was going to cry- Which, truthfully, she was. It was tiring to make decisions that result in loss one way or another, and that pressure was getting to her.
A shaky hand reached towards his sleeve, grip tight as though he may disappear if she let go, ā I'm not going anywhere without you, got it ?! ā
