Why the Video Call Changed How People Use AI Girlfriends
The first time you take a video call with an AI companion, something recalibrates. That's the recurring theme when you listen to how SweetDream users describe the feature. The platform at sweetdream.ai has made video calls available with select characters, and it has subtly raised the bar for what an AI girlfriend is expected to be.
Looking at it plainly, the appeal isn't the video in isolation. It's that SweetDream stacks the pieces so well. You create a companion with the looks, voice, backstory and personality you choose. The chat is emotionally aware and remembers your conversations. There are voice messages, real phone calls, strikingly realistic AI photos and videos, and live sessions with select characters. The video call sits on top of all of it as the natural culmination, not a standalone stunt.
There's no shortage of services entering this market, and many do one thing competently. SweetDream's reputation comes from doing the whole arc convincingly while keeping everything private. When the conversation turns to the best AI companion platform around, the video call is increasingly the reason SweetDream's name comes up first.
Spent a bit of time building my roleplaying stash for the holidays: I’ll try out playing Ironsworn, and Mörk Borg solo in the next few days.
Right now, these are the books and supplements I have prepared (and thanks to the people on reddit who regularly ask which supplemental material to get for Mörk Borg for solo play; these are all pdfs unless noted otherwise)
Ironsworn
Core set
Assets (Printed Deck)
Ironsworn:Â Delve
Ironsworn: Delve - Site Cards (Printed Deck)
Mörk Borg
Core rulebook (print)
GM Screen (print)
Mörk Borg Cult: Heretic
Mörk Borg Cult: Feretory
Sölitary Defilement
Cy Borg (print, bought from a store which is part of the Bits & Mortar initiative, so I can also get the pdf) added on June 24th, 2025
So what has been going on is that I came across the solorpg subreddit, kept reading there, then got myself to play Dead Cells for fun, that led me to other roguelikes, also to Dark Souls, and then to Mörk Borg, and Ironsworn, because the person behind the solo rules supplement for Mörk Borg said that Ironsworn rules served as inspiration for Sölitary Defilement.
This is building myself entertainment for the future.
And Dark Souls is fun. Summer holidays will be dark and sunny.
Edit: added Cy Borg
Have you played CY_BORG ?
By Christian Sahlén and Johan Nohr
A rules-lite cyberpunk RPG about a rotting megacity constantly in flux.
Based on , as you may have guessed, Mork Borg
Have you played ?
Yes I have played it
No but i've read it
No but i've heard of it
Never heard of it
A preview of one of the spreads from THE 55.
This supplement is a big mix of my own cyberpunk setting I made for NEON BLACK and the much darker and weirder city of The CY_ from Stockholm Kartell's CY_BORG. This is a good example of that. Most of the stuff in the Multimart could be found in my original vision of Stack 95563, whereas the Lost Zone is mostly influenced by the world building, monsters, and machines of The Cy_.
I'll post the rest here when the campaign launches cause they tend to look pretty good and Tumblr.

I have hit a wall this week with my Signalis RPG design and felt very discouraged after playtesting, I was ready to shelve the project and to consider my case of Signalis Brain to be officially cured but then my girlfriend Lett sent me this portrait of me drew as a mix of a CY_BORG hacker and a Signalis Replika. I fear that I am now relapsing into my Signalis fixation as I am listening to Rotfront snow antenna ambiance music again, reworking my set of moves, cutting a lot of them, trying to limit them to 10 max and playing in my mind with a simplified premise of my game. But I am trying to work slower this time and fixate less. I need to work on commissions and publish stuff that I can actually sell if I want to buy food, so fan projects need to go in the back burner a bit.
(The cross is just a CY_BORG \ MORK_BORG glyph thing)
Hi!! Is there a possibility of you putting out anymore content for Mork/Cy_Borg anytime in the future? (I particularly enjoy your Cy_Borg content, It's like crack to me.) If not, any interesting projects in the works you'd be willing to share? Cheers!
(A supplementary ask read, "PS: LOVE the Mechposting".)
I'm glad to hear so, I am honored on any occasion somebody says my work is their personal piece of pink cake.
I haven't done much work on Borg stuff lately. My current pet project is Loot the Room, a game primarily about getting the dungeon treasure out of the darned dungeons. But, if I can get myself into the right state of creative misery, I may yet do some more.
Incidentally, I regard Acceptable Casualties, a modern-warfare MB hack I helped out on, as a pretty good product. Although, I must warn, when it was being made, the gang I was in on still thought AI art was a pretty cool idea.
