roses have thorns

Chul arrived fashionably late just this once. And just this once, he dressed as alluringly as he possibly could and even styled his hair. Tonight, he had to look impeccable.
He was never one to attend late, mainly because he hated interacting with people and liked to arrive early so he could either sneak out or leave early. But it was a special occasion and Chul needed to enter with a bigger presence than usual. Even so, he couldn’t help biting back a scoff when the Royals around him immediately burst into excited whispers. That and because he absolutely hated dances. My God, did he hate dancing with a passion. Not that he was bad at it (the Queen forced him to take lessons over and over and he could dance in his sleep if he she told him to), but he just never understood what the point of it all was for. Well--he understood that it was for courting but we digress, Chul hates dancing and he hates being bombarded by random women asking to dance.
The real reason why he was even here tonight was because the Queen had given him instructions for a long term job. As always, the scheming Queen of Spades needed information. The specific information needed laid within secret documents held only accessible by the current ruling family of the Kingdom of Hearts, and the easiest way to gain access to those documents was through Princess Eunae. Therefore, it was now Chul’s sole goal to capture the heart of Princess Eunae, who the Queen had specially invited to the private ball tonight as the sole representative of the Kingdom of Hearts. And while the ladies near him fawned, Chul was searching the room for his target. Surrounded by a garden of flowers, his vision was only set on a single rose.
The music begins to play and a few couples ascend upon the dance floor, dancing to to the slow melody when Chul spotted her. She was in the furthest corner away from him. Perfect.
“Prince Chul--” He coldly turned away from the girl who had just approached him. Normally, Chul would either slink back into the darkness and slip out the exit or he would traverse along the walls, taking the long way to his target so that they would never see him. But not this time, no. Instead, Chul watched quietly until he caught her eyes. It took some time, but when he did catch her eyes he made sure to keep her gaze. Locking his eyes with hers, Chul does something that he has never done before--he started heading directly to her.
Another young lady approached him and Chul instantly side-stepped her in one swift move as if she was nothing but a mere irrelevant fly, earning a surprised gasp. Yet Chul paid no mind to it. He only brushed it off as he continued his gradual and calm stride straight through the dance floor. Normally, it would be considered rude, but in that moment--all the Royals dancing around him suddenly stopped dancing and stepped aside when they saw who was walking so boldly past them. The music stopped along when the dancing couples stopped dancing and it was as if everyone was suddenly holding their breaths, watching his every step. He knew that all eyes were on him now.
Chul only used this to his advantage as he stopped in front of her. He stares at her for a moment and then takes a deep breath. In one movement, he breaks their eye contact while bowing with his hand held out to her gently. Lifting his his head to face her, Chul parts his lips,
“Princess Eunae, may I have this dance?”
