It was awesome to meet Kenneth Hogans Sr. recently in Oakland, California! His old school community barbershop, Cuts and Bends, has been in this area since 1981 and is filled with his collections of books, pictures, and paintings. We couldn’t believe it when he told us he is 82 years old. He continues to work 5 days a week. Kenneth was born in Mississippi and he began cutting hair when he was a teenager. In 1956, he came out to California and he joined the AirForce. He said his mom thought he was going to California so he could attend UC Berkeley. However, Kenneth said he really wanted to become a barber ❤️ Very special thanks to @robhammerphoto for this barbershop recommendation 💕
