Tip #170. CUT AFTER THE ACTION BEGINS. Your movies will be more dynamic if something is happening before you cut to it. In the example here—from “The Movie Star” directed by Blake Calhoun (@watchifilmmakers)—the night watchman has already opened the door and is moving in before the shot begins. There’s action from the first frame. The alternative would have been to cut to the closed door and then show it opening. That would make sense, but the pace would be slower. “The Movie Star” will soon be featured as a Mobile Movie of the Week. #mobilemoviemakingtips #cuttingvideo #cutonaction #moviepacing #iphonemovies #smartphonemovies https://www.instagram.com/p/B4DjXWNhLr-/?igshid=14e5la3050i2j
