𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸-- pen and scribbling and rewriting, brow furrowed, teeth sinking onto the soft skin of your bottom lip as denki strums away on your acoustic. melodies have always been your forte, they swim about your head, a soundtrack that begs to be let out. words on the other hand, they've never been your favorite, they stay jumbled, shuffling over and over as you desperately try to clutch and make sense of the mess of lines, always too personal, before they end up on the page.
concentration's all you know, you're finally getting the bridge down, until the soothing melody shifts into a dissonant record scratch, a chord so fowl, the clink of plastic hitting your desk is the only reason you notice your hand's now empty. 𝘰𝘩 𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘥, just when you were making progress.. your eyes land on him before you know it, aubergine hues taking in the sight of your best friend settled on your bed, gaze harsh once you notice his hands, fingers a mess. it doesn't take you long to figure out the chord he's going for, one even you have trouble with from time to time, ❝ you idiot, you've got your ringer and middle fingers mixed up. just, ugh, hold on.. ❞
you really don't need to get up, you especially don't need to make your way over. he can easily fix the problem himself, you know he can. but you do, your body moving before your brain has a chance to catch up. it's not until you've got one hand gently resting on the back of the neck of the guitar while the other is moving his fingers that it clicks-- you're so protective of your bubble, unafraid to use your jack to keep it intact, 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. a move that leaves you wide eyed as warmth settles in your chest, spreading until you can feel the rosy hue threatening to peek out. you want to lean into the moment, you want to run away; it's not hard to figure out which you pick.
an awkward clear of your throat and you're standing up, hand running through your tresses as you cast a sideways glance, ❝ try it now. and maybe practice the transition a few times so you don't ruin my song. ❞
