The FNF is proud to be co-presenting the Bay Area premiere of Tamás Topolánszky's "Curtiz" (2018) at this year's San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. This biopic examines a major turning point in Hungarian director Michael Curtiz's life, the troubled production of one his greatest directorial efforts, Casablanca. His on-set problems are overshadowed by his quest to save relatives caught up in the Nazi dragnet of Jews and the reappearance of his estranged daughter. FNF prez Eddie Muller will introduce the July 20th screening, 6:00 pm at the Castro Theatre. Following the screening, Eddie will be in conversation with FNF board member and Curtiz biographer Alan K. Rode.
The film plays twice more during the festival, Wednesday July 24, 8:30 p.m. at Palo Alto's CineArts in and on Saturday July 27, 6:40 p.m. at the Albany Twin. SFJFF 39 runs July 18 – August 4.
