Bucky didn’t know where to start, coming back from the snap to Steve leaving him, hearing about Natasha but not quite having the nerve to see her yet and there was his pardon and what came with that. It was a lot at once and felt like nothing at once - he felt like he was in a purgatory, a day after day and nightmare after nightmare… Linking up with Sam helped, a lot more than he’d ever admit but it’s the reason why he came to Natasha now. The way he was making amends was making people pay without taking their life and he could honestly say they deserved that still, the people that used him deserved to be stripped of what he got them but there was more to it… it was a hell of a lot harder doing it Sam’s way but he was right, “It’s… me… Bucky.” was all he said after the knock, not sure what her state would be after almost a year but knowing she probably would never be the same Natasha he once knew.

It didn’t matter how long they had been together, or how many times Magnus said such sweet things to him, Alec would always blush. Bucky had nearly dropped the phone at hearing her voice, and again at what she said, somehow managing to fumble even with his metal fingers. His eyes widened, before he immediately started grabbing a bag, throwing anything important he could think of into it and darting out the door.
