❝ i hoped that you would come. ❞ divorce era 😔🙏
TOO MUCH TIME YAWNS BETWEEN them now - a gaping chasm of young men stepping into adulthood with only tragedy and loss between them. graduation had come and went with little fanfare, satoru's occupation even less so. once, he'd dreamed of the moment being with suguru... once, he'd dreamed of the laughter, his friend's cheeks red with too much celebratory sake, and satoru's own dusted pink as they lay in a pile of limbs together, swapping plans ( and in his deepest desires, kisses too ) for the future. satoru gojo did not think himself a naive man in regards to jujutsu. he had been raised to endure the tragedies of the world... but no one had prepared him for the way his power would alienate, and how agonizing it would be to have the other half of him ripped away by ideology and an inability to see.
satoru is taller now, suguru's hair longer - those dark eyes riddled with something he doesn't quite understand. behind him, the rain falls, rolling off infinity in waves, and he reaches upwards to remove his bandages with little fanfare - pinning his former friend with the full brunt of that bright blue gaze. the sorcerer's face is not sweet, not filled with the gentleness and mischief of his youth. only poorly concealed hurt exists there - still as raw as the day that suguru had walked away, still as empty as every morning without him. he stares and he stares and he stares, before stepping through the threshold, the weight of infinity forcing suguru back to allow him in. the door clicks shut behind them - ominous and final.
❝ why did you text me? ❞ why did he still have his number was a better question, probably, but satoru knows the answer - and ignores it in favor of a hand drifting upwards, infinity sputtering out so that he might touch a dark, silken strand, run it along the pads of his fingers. petal soft lips part in wonder, and satoru almost shivers, remembering all the times casual intimacy marked their friendship... and how it could never be that way again. ❝ why, suguru? why? ❞ rhetorical questions - no need for an answer, for a bit of wild mania has settled in his gaze - a lack of sleep chasing rational thought round and round in circles while he continues touching that silky strand. ❝ you're so cruel, y'know? i've finally made it six solid hours without thinking of you and now this. so tell me, suguru, before i do something stupid: what do you want from me? ❞
