Hyatt Culinary Challenge, Pune
It was my first time to witness the Culinary Challenge at Hyatt Pune. The event was organised so well along with some peppy games for the guests as well. A lavish dinner buffet was served to all the guest. Here is some brief about the event.
October 27 2018, Pune: To emphasize Hyatt’s focus on its rich culinary heritage, Hyatt Hotels in India hosted the fifth season of ‘Hyatt Culinary Challenge-people cooking for people’ during the last weekend of October across 14 cities.
Hyatt Culinary Challenge was conceptualized as a unique event that will bring together individuals from the corporate realm on a common platform where they could showcase their culinary expertise and passion for food in an interactive culinary event. Each participant was paired with a child participant from partner NGOs to create a participant choice recipe to be adjudged by a panel of distinguished judges from the culinary sphere.
Speaking on the occasion, Harleen Mehta, VP, Sales Operations, Hyatt India said, “Hyatt hotels around the world are recognized for their innovation, creativity and strong focus on Food and Beverage. The objective behind running the Hyatt Culinary Challenge was to give a wider audience across India the opportunity to engage with Hyatt as a brand by participating in ‘people cooking for people’. The overwhelming response that we have witnessed across the cities, over the past years, has been truly encouraging and we look forward to another wonderful edition.”
The preliminary Runners up and winners at each city were awarded a stay at various Hyatt Hotels across India and the winner has been invited to participate in the Grand Finale at Hyderabad in December 2018. The winner from the finale will win a family holiday at one of the exotic international destinations of Hyatt.
At Hyatt Pune, Kalyani Nagar, the participants created a myriad of family style recipes ranging from Slow Roasted Tomato & Watercress Salad with Vegan Paella Valencia by Mr. Shrikant Chakravarty from Bekaert; Jamaican Jerk Grill Cottage Cheese Steak by Mr. Mehul Mehta from Infosys and the wonderful Zingalala Crepe….A prawns recipe by Ms. Priya Wagholikar from HDFC. It was truly an indulgent experience and Mr. Tarun Sharma – CEO, BMC Software, who prepared Bharwaan Tamatar was adjudged winner and will represent Pune in the finale.
About the Buffet: No doubt about the Hyatt’s Culinary Skills!! The food preparation was really top notch and of course there was free flowing liquor and cocktails from the house of Ketel One Vodka

These Potatoes Take a While to Cook, but What Comes Out is Utterly Amazing
These Potatoes Take a While to Cook, but What Comes Out is Utterly Amazing
Can we get enough of potato recipes? I’ll answer that – no. Some may disagree, but I consider potatoes the superhero of food. They can make sides, garnishes, appetizers or even make up an entire meal! To add to your lengthy list of potato recipes is these crusty, roasted fondant potatoes. Popular in European culture, these fondants take a bit more time than, say, instant mash potatoes. But if…

Trouble since I first laid eyes on them.
Day 1 was troubling for me... Why, you may ask? Well, the wings were served with "mofongo" and since I said I did not like the color or consistency (I was saying my honest opinion, NOT denying the food) it was taken as a sign of um... hate? I can't recall the english word for the emotions running through the table. The Wings were good, though not as good as I had imagined. The Wings were one of my brothers' recipe and the Pops were my Mothers'. The Pops were also good, but there was a weird taste to them, since they were not, technically, sweet for my taste? My father gave the wings an 8, my mother a 9, my brother an 8, and me? Well, I'll give them a 7, since I had to eat the leftovers 2 days later and they tasted better (I do not know if it was because of the absence of certain garlicky gooeyness??) The Pops will remain unanswered but I give them a 7 too. :) I will post about Day 2 soon.
PS: The scale is from 1-10, 10 being TOTALLY AWESOME AND WE WILL MAKE THIS AGAIN, and 1 being I HATE IT! NICE TRY!.
