Feels good to be the first in the family to graduate from a university. First generation Mexican-American. Hella proud to do it for my parents who sacrificed everything coming to the United States to give my brothers and I a better life. I did it for my family and for my heritage I can’t deny my roots of Mexico 🇲🇽 I’m too proud. Finish my last two years of school with a 3.6 GPA and my last semester with a 4.0 GPA. It wasn’t the easiest path to get my degree. I spent a few years in community college transferred to Las Vegas but did not go as planned. Moved back to California in 2017 and two years later I finished my degree. I didn’t make an excuse because I didn’t get much help from financial aid. I paid for my own education I worked two jobs most of the time I was in school. I would flip signs on the corners during summer to pay for school, also worked at fast food restaurants. But at the end hearing my name being called out and the cheers of my family and friends are one thing I’ll never forget. Just seeing my parents smile meant everything. Still, have one more goal to complete and that is getting my Masters. 🙏🏽 #CSUSM2019 One Love (at California State University San Marcos) https://www.instagram.com/p/By_BwTQHxTx/?igshid=1gktgd7oukhhx
