Spring Schedules
So, I've got a full course load for next semester. Heads up to you guys looking at ECE 2020, from what I've learned this is the DL on teachers that and some classes that I have taken:
Kim is terrible, Keezer is not so good, Lim and Schimmel are good. Apparently Schimmel will let you exempt final if you have a B or higher. Also Wills is decent.
As for English 1101 and 1102, I recommend Dr. Phoebe Bronstein. She is new this year but I took 1101 with her. She is amazing! She says she grades hard but if you go to office hours and talk to her she is pretty lenient on your writing. She is fun, loves TV and the assignments are interesting. We have class dicussions that are deep and cool! Great GPA, and interesting class.
Ok, MATH 1502 - Calculus 2. So, if you want a good GPA take Morley, but you won't learn much from him. Blekherman is the best, but I didn't have him. I had Loss. He talks fast, teaches fast. If you work hard you can get a high B - low A. If you work superhumanly then you can get a high A. I personally think he is a cool guy, but not so great of a professor.
Let see, oh! So if you have to choose between taking CS 1171 and CS 1371, be careful! I passed 1171, so yippi!! But I know those who dropped or skipped. 1171 is basically a selfstudy matlab course. You have to teach yourself Smith's book in half a semester and the exam is in the middle of the semester a few days before drop day. Take it if you have a strong foundation in programming. I already did some matlab on my own before the class which helped a lot, in addition to APCS. Make sure if you are taking 1371 to get Smith. He wrote the book, and is a wonderful teacher in comparison to the others. It is the lesser of two evils.
And last but not least APPH 1040 (used to be HPS 1040) take DECKER! He is the best. We have like 2-3 assignments in the year - all very short. 3 quizzes that are online based on the book (EASY) and 3 exams. If you go to lecture he basically tells you what he wants you to know for the final. There is also extra credit available - up to 4 points on your grade, that means an 86 can become a 90!
