Or: When Lin goes to the bridge to present her research on the wormhole and resonance, it suddenly becomes extremely relevant to the entire ship. The wormhole warps again, just like it did eight years ago, but something's different this time.

Or: If you find out about the Earth fleet in Command, don't stop the fleet yourself, and then negotiate peace, the Gardeners "warp the resonance of the wormhole" in the ending. This is not explained, other than the next line, "Somewhere in the universe are a hundred thousand confused humans floating endlessly, trying to find a planet that feels increasingly more like a fever dream."

sooo i didn't have "sun" but i do have "star"! this is a sneak peak of "Lin, Between Worlds" -

Usually, the Destine floated somewhere around the midpoint between the wormhole and the closest star’s orbital pull, but they’d moved closer two-ish months ago to take some precise readings. Zirconium had implied she kept the ship in the same place as much as possible to conserve fuel. Lin had nearly scoffed that day; what were they conserving fuel for?
