Monday Musings 9/11
New blog update. Crypticon MN, writing thoughts, gaming, Wheel of Time, and more etc. Thanks for reading. #writing #fiction #blog
Haven’t done these for a little while so I thought I’d take a quick break from all my fiction I’ve been revising. That has been a really fantastic experience for me. It really showed me that I had really great ideas back when I first wrote these stories, but I lacked the polish and patience with editing that I have now. Feels good to go back and mine these diamonds a little bit. Crypticon MN is…

Michael Biehn (Bucket List 2015)
*File under the best moment of 2015* Thursday, October 22nd, 2015: Went to airport to pick up on of my favourite actors in the last 30 years, Michael Biehn. Nerves were almost frayed just waiting at the airport baggage. Called my wife twice to keep me calm as I waited. Then, he entered the baggage area. Boom, nerves faded, business mode kicked in. Got him safely to the hotel and all was right in the world. Friday, October 23rd, 2015: Autograph and photo acquired, even gave him a little gift. Went about my evening to see a lot of friends. Sunday, October 25th, 2015: Last day of Crypticon. My coworker Brigitte wants to catch Doug Jones Q&A, so I am forced (joking) to sit with Michael Biehn for an hour as a handler. Best. Hour. Of. My. Life. His table was busy for most of that hour, when it died, we had a chance to chat. Really awesome guy. He had to leave early Monday morning, so I gave him my number to discuss the flight times and pick up.
Sunday After Crypticon: Quiet night at home when I realize I did not have my phone near by. Missed calls and texts. One call starts "Hi Tom, Michael Biehn here....", then a lot of stuff about flight times and such. After a short game of phone tag, THE call. I am call and have my calm intact, my lovely wife Jenni, is freaking out for me. A few celebratory shots later, I relax enough to finally fall asleep a few hours later.
Monday, October 26th, 2015: Wake at 4:30 am to drive back to the hotel to pick up Michael Biehn at 5:45 am. Arrive, chat, load up his luggage and take off. He made it home safely.
I have had the honour to drive for Crypticon Minnesota for the last 5 years. But this was one of my biggest ever. Knocked off 2 items from the bucket list.
