(He has both of his arms, I just got lazy)
Yes, I know the name Magpie is used for an NPC in the childhood portion of Fable 2 but I do not care. It is too good of a name to be wasted on a drunk who is probably dead. My Magpie named himself in frustration after people told him he was too old to be named Sparrow, Magpie was the next best option (stemming from his habit of collecting shiny objects and the beads Rose would tie into his hair).
As for his backstory, it's pretty consistent with the Fable 2 Sparrow canon until after the point of meeting Reaver because I think the ending was way too rushed. So, from this point onward I'll be talking about the world Magpie is from.
All of this is subject to change as I keep messing with it.
After the hero group was collected, a solid plan needed to be constructed to defeat Lucien so Magpie and Reaver ran off to do pirate shit and destroy Lucien's naval force for a while, in a homosexual Bonnie and Clyde sort of act. That is, until Reaver stabbed him in the eye and he returned to the mainland to fast track the "let's murder Lucien" plan (and seek medical attention because his eye got REALLY infected out on the ship). He was actually ready to forgive Reaver by the time they had defeated Lucien but, like in the canon, Reaver fucked off to another country to get high and have sex; Which made Magpie spiteful, to say the least. He eventually became king, married a high class woman named Eleanor for the sake of funding the kingdom and producing heirs, then almost died in a war because he couldn't see jack shit and has no depth perception. He's very stoic and oh so sad. In fact, it was his stoic nature that lead both of his sons to be manipulated by the man he hates because he spent so long stewing in his own grief and anger that he neglected to actually tell them what had happened in his life.
There's more to it but the basics is that he absolutely HATES Reaver but is too gay to kill the man himself. He was very close with Hammer and doesn't quite forgive himself for letting her down. And, he was good at playing the lute (hence why he forced his children to learn musical instruments).
He is, also, very dead. The queen fell ill so, not wanting to leave his children without a mother, he drained his own lifeforce to save her but ultimately killed them both. All of his spite and anger manifested into, what I'm calling an echo as a placeholder (basically a non-sentient ghost made up of the shards of a persons soul that could not pass on) who haunts Bowerlake, wading around in the water and generally being off-putting.
Yes, these characters are very self indulgent and no I do not care.
