The idea for the Ichha exhibition came from the organisation CRY – Child Rights and You – when they launched their Click Rights Campaign to campaign for the girl child’s right to education. “CRY asked  Nazar Foundation to partner with them to mount an exhibition on the theme in Delhi,” says Prashant Panjiar, managing trustee, Nazar Foundation. The photographs in the exhibition came from three sources: Nazar Foundation approached prominent photographers to contribute images; photographers Mansi Midha, Anshika Varma and Abhinav Sanghi photographed in CRY project sites in Rajasthan, UP & Delhi; and Nazar volunteers conducted a one-day workshop with CRY volunteers and helped them photograph in CRY project sites within Delhi. Although the work of several prominent photographers is also part of the exhibition, Panjiar maintains that creating awareness about the issue is at the core of the exhibition. “Participating in such campaigns also allows photographers to express solidarity with causes they believe in, thereby enriching their own work,” he avers.
