Elliot’s Best Thanksgiving Experience

The best Thanksgiving for Elliot was probably the Thanksgiving of 2008. He was 13, and for the first time, his father was not going to be with them for Thanksgiving. His father was on a business trip in Japan, and he had told the family that he'd only be back around Christmas. The Bremertons had always had Thanksiving dinner together until that date, and it was something the whole family enjoyed. Elliot might be a distant person, but he was very close to his family; so not having his father with them for Thanksgiving was upsetting. What he didn't know was his father had already arranged everything for the family; plane tickets, hotel reservations... They were indeed going to spend Thanksgiving together, just not in USA.

The trip to Japan had been hectic. Elliot, his mom and his sister almost missed the flight, they all got lost in Tokyo after meeting with their dad, they ended up going to the Hello Kitty Resturant, Elliot ate that weird thing he wasn't supposed to eat and got sick. EVen though it sounded like a disaster, Elliot had never enjoyed Thanksgiving more, because it was different, and because going through all that together made them feel closer to each other than ever. It had been a Thanksgiving experience that Elliot was never going to forget.

Elliot’s Worst Thanksgiving Experience

The worst Thanksgiving for Elliot was the Thanksgiving of 2014. It was when his family asked Elliot to invite his first boyfriend, against Elliot'S objections. His boyfriend loved the idea, which made Elliot further hate the idea. He knew it was going to be a disaster, and he wasn't wrong about it - his family had proved Elliot right.

 -- Scott’s general view on Thanksgiving has always been, the whole Holiday sucks. It’s based on over-eating so people shouldn’t have to dress up for it, and yet they are forced to. Usually, in his family, they always get into stupid arguments no matter what. He is forced to spend the holiday with his Grandparents on his dads side (who he hates and who hate him) and his parents have never really been there. He’s only ever actually spent two Thanksgiving’s where his mom was in attendance and wasn’t on meth which was as much as anyone could really ask of her and one when Scott was eighteen years old. His mom had promised to show up and she did and his grandparents who are very judgmental snobbish people could not attend that year which made it that much better. They didn’t really do anything special. He and his brother and their cousin Chris did what they do every year on Thanksgiving while their aunt finished up the cooking (everyone was required to help through out the day, but she always finished), went up to the roof and shared a joint and hung out. His mom caught them up there and joined them and they all smoked a little and talked and laughed and dinner was really chill. It was just one of the rare times Scott go to hang out with his mom as an adult where she was lucid, sober, and he got to really tell her about his life and spend time with all the people that he loves in one place  without any fighting and it was just very nice.

Worst Thanksgiving

Bad news first of course. Magnolia had too many terrible Thanksgivings, she doesn’t even know which one she should pick. If she has to pick one, she would pick Thanksgiving of 2009. Sawyers usually host big Thanksgiving dinners, where they invite Magnolia’s maternal grandparents because they also live in Connecticut. The dinner started pretty normal, just like the others did until Magnolia’s sister dropped a huge bomb. It was Melody’s last year in Harvard, and her dad was bragging about Mel’s achievements. He was extremely happy that his precious daughter was going to be a lawyer, just like him. Then Melody told the whole family that she had been lying for 4 years and she was actually majoring architecture. Of course she was pushing her father’s buttons, challenging his authority and humiliating him in front of whole family. It was Mel’s way of getting back at all those bullying and pressure. Michael Sawyer didn’t impress, in fact he pretty much lost his temper and kicked Melody out. Everybody in the family tried to stop him but he had made his mind already. After a big argument between Michael and Melody, the male lost his temper and slapped Melody in the face. Having no other choice but leave, Mel packed her bags and went back to Harvard and never came back. Ever since that fight those two barely speak and she is not invited to any family occasion or holidays.

Best Thanksgiving
