Today I stumbled upon a concept called CrowdBuilding. It's a new online platform in The Netherlands where you can put your own wishes in an empty office building.
The idea came from all the empty office buildings in The Netherlands (more than 7 million square meters), while so many people are searching for homes.
The concept is that you gather a bunch of people, this could be people you already know, or people you meet at the site. Together you'll decide what will happen to the buildings on the site.
When your crowd is big enough, they will provide you with professionals and a architect, who will help you with the realisation of the project.

I try not to pay attention to the media and the blogosphere because most of it is driven by ad revenue... and how do you get more clicks? By manipulating people's emotions with fear and speculation. If there's anything I learned from building a large following on facebook it's this: Don't put all your hopes in a big company for anything. Build your own brand and don't trust that even Google is going to forever let you milk their network for free. Drive people to your site which you can control how things are played out. Build an email list. Or just good old fashioned spreadsheets with contact info that let you stay in touch with people. Back up ALL your data that is stored in any Cloud server.
