Request from @g00dl13 : Hi... Sorry to bother you... But could you please write a story about Reader And Derek... Reader working in BAU and having a crush on Derek but she thinks he doesn't like her and is not really a relationship guy... But after he gets shot reader confesses their feelings... I leave it up to you if they end up together.
You worked for the FBI for four years before coming to the BAU. David Rossi, one of your mentors, had recruited you to join his team. At first, you felt out of place with a team who had been together for so long, but they were quick to make you feel welcome. It’d been three years since then and you felt like you’d found the perfect place for you. You loved the job and your team. They were all like your family.
Your relationship with Derek was different. You had to admit that you’d quickly developed a crush on him which wasn’t surprising. You knew Derek was a ladies' man. He was handsome and kind, but he wasn’t a relationship kind of guy. He’d told you so at one point. The job made things complicated, so he didn’t bother with it. That’s the main reason you hadn’t told him how you felt. And you felt sure he didn’t feel the same way. You were content to keep your feeling to yourself. Crushes didn’t last forever, and you tricked yourself into believing that was all your feelings were.
The two of you went together to check out a name you’d gotten from Garcia. You were headed towards the door when it opened and shots fired. You ducked behind a car and waited for them to stop before lifting your head back up. You saw a guy running in the opposite direction and turned to Derek.
Derek was holding a hand to his chest as blood poured from a wound. He slid to the ground, and you pressed a hand to the wound while pulling out your phone and calling for an ambulance. You threw your phone down and pressed both hands down trying to slow the bleeding.
“Derek.” His eyes were closing. “Derek I need you to stay awake. Please keep your eyes open.”
You could hear sirens close by and prayed they’d speed up. Derek’s eyes shut.
The ambulance pulled into the driveway and you let out a sigh. The medics loaded him into the ambulance and you climbed in behind them. The drive to the hospital was a blur and before you knew it you were sitting in the waiting room. You pulled out your phone to call Hotch and fill him in. He told you to stay at the hospital and keep them updated.
You let out a sigh as you looked down at your clothes and hands. They were covered in blood. You walked into the bathroom and turned on a sink. You scrubbed your hands until they were clean. You took off your jacket and stuffed it into the trash can. There was nothing you could do about your shirt and pants so you walked out and sat in a chair in the waiting room.
You hated hospitals. You did everything you could to stay out of them, but you hated the waiting the most. The feeling of being useless was one you felt every time you had to sit in the waiting room of a hospital. And you were scared. Your heart was beating so hard you thought it might burst. You knew Derek’s wound was serious, and you were covered in his blood.
After a few hours, a doctor made his way towards you. You’d never been as relieved as you were when he told you Derek would be alright. He took you to his room. You called the rest of the team and let them know Derek was alright before going in. You sat down next to him and grabbed his hand.
In the waiting room, you’d realized your feelings were a lot more than a crush and you knew you had to tell him.
When Derek woke up he saw you sitting beside his bed. You were staring off into space and didn’t notice he was awake. He squeezed your hand causing you to jump and look at him. Your eyes widened, and you grabbed the cup of water a nurse had left and helped him drink.
“What happened?” He asked.
He laughed. “Yeah, I got that part.”
“I honestly don’t know. We were waking and then the guy started shooting,” you said. “The team got him though. He’s our unsub.”
“When you’re worried about something you mess with your bottom lip.”
You moved your hand away from your face and crossed your arms. “Don’t profile me.”
“Don’t have to be a profiler to notice things,” he said. “So what’s going on?”
“You wouldn’t be worried if it was nothing.”
“I realized something that’s all.”
You could tell by his face that wasn’t a good enough answer and let out a sigh.
“Y/n, whatever it is you can tell me,” he said.
“I have feelings for you, Derek.”
“Wow,” you said walking towards the door. “That’s great.”
“Wait. Y/N that’s not what I meant.”
“What else does that mean?”
“I’ve been making a fool of myself for weeks flirting with you.”
“I’ve been pulling out my best tricks.”
You laughed and shook your head. He had to be messing with you.
“Ask anyone on the team. They’ve been giving me hell about it.”
“Because I have feelings for you too,” he said. “I figured you didn’t feel the same way.”
“No, I was just oblivious.” You laughed and sat in your chair.
“So you really had no idea?”
You shook your head. “None.”
He held out a hand, and you placed yours in it.
“You know I’m great I relationships.”
“But I want this to work. You’re not just another girl,” he said making you smile.
A knock on the door caused you to jump. Prentiss was at the door with the rest of the team behind her.
“Hey guys,” you said as you stood up. They all filed into the room heading towards Derek.
“I saw that,” Emily whispered as passed you.
You laughed and went to stand next to her. Derek caught your eye, and you smiled. You were falling in love with him and now you knew he felt the same way.
