Slow and High Tempo
In this part of the fic, I really wanted to show how complicated emotions and thoughts can be. From Liam being angry towards his ex but feeling guilty about being angry, to his knowledge of how different Zayn, and his relationship with Zayn, is compared to her, but still having that fear because of how much pain she caused. Liam has been quiet about his feelings with Zayn, and the struggle he has talking about it. But here, Liam really wants Zayn to understand, even though he is confused by his own thoughts/emotions. He speaks quietly because he is nervous about speaking about it, but also because he is nervous about how Zayn is going to respond. Will he be angry that Liam compares the two of them? That he can’t let his anger go enough to be with Zayn? Zayn deserves the world, and what if he isn’t what Zayn deserves? Liam is also very hard on himself when he talks about it, because he felt as if there is a lot that he did wrong as well, and it affects him so greatly because it caused harm to his son.
This is really important for the rest of the fic, because it is bringing Liam and Zayn into a more serious relationship. (I mean it is already pretty serious but there is nothing defined about it.) It is also really important for Liam to address his emotions about his ex, because 1. It will help him with his relationship with Zayn, and also, get to a place where it no longer plagues his thoughts. Liam has gotten himself into a situation he has wanted to avoid, with Oliver loving Zayn so much, but he finds he also enjoys that it has happened because he wants Zayn in their life. He does not know if his worries are actually protecting him and Oliver from pain Zayn can cause to them, or hurting them because Zayn isn’t going to cause them any pain.
