Happy #4thofJuly from the summit of 14er #HumboldtPeak. We sure are lucky to live in the USA and have all this wild land to play on whenever we want. The #SangredeCristo is one of my favorite mountain ranges anywhere. These mountains have a unique rugged and rocky characteristic with very vertical terrain, much different than the rest of Colorado. Behind me are #14ers #CrestoneNeedle left and #CrestonePeak right. "Ellingwood Arête" is a big alpine route up the face of Crestone Needle to my right. I've had my eyes on it for years. I attempted the hike up Crestone Needle from the backside in 2006, but was shut down by snow in early June, and then again on an attempt of nearby 14er Kit Carson Mountain in 2007. I will summit them another time, but currently I'm stoked I finally knocked a Sangre 14er off my list!
