About a week ago (*hits Shmoney*), a song came across my radar.  A song that not only sparked a flame sonically, but relayed an emotional parallel to anyone that desires the acceptance of the masses in their respective fields.  This melodic anthem was a product of Crem de la Crem, a musical trio that formed in Atlanta, GA over the past few years.  Formerly Team BONG (Best Of New Generation), A duo of Emcee’s that gradually grew apart.  Also S-n-S, a male/female hip-hop/R&B duet, with a common denominator, the two groups morphed into the power house now known as Crem de la Crem. 

Produced by Epik the Dawn, “All Around the World” is the epitome of an inspirational record.  The instrumental gives off a pop-ish vibration, that is met with great lyrics that any true Hip-Hop fan would appreciate.  The delivery from the collective minds of Crem de la Crem are a blend of aggression, passion, and humility, that translates into dynamic work of art that could touch the hearts of all that hear it. 

The first voice we hear on “All Around the World” is 24 year old Queens, NY native (by way of Atlanta), Sin A.K.A. Just Sincere (the common denominator of S-n-S and Team BONG), who sets the tone of the track with powerful lyrics and passionate delivery.  With plenty home run bars in a single verse, I had a hard time picking the perfect lines to break down.  One that really stood out to me came in the first stanza.  “...My pardon, the labels bargain, I promise to never settle/ Feel like im controversial, they feel I should go commercial/ hey mister, I beg the differ, we wanna be universal.”  This, to me, is almost like a declaration of independence.  A refusal of compromise and a vow to stay true.  “The motive is that we ain’t complacent at graduation”.  Meaning that at no point will satisfaction be attained by mere milestones, but the ultimate goal is to be a house hold name ‘All Around the World”.  

The chorus, sung by the 23 year old first (and only) lady of Crem de la Crem, S.dot Gomez, is the driving force of this composition.  With a soft voice, full of conviction, she delivers her definition of what “All Around the World” means.  The hook begins with a solo of S.dot prophesying their victory over the nay-sayers. Proclaiming a position where they reach a euphoric status, that is equivalent to the highest high, that they wish would never end.  Segueing into a harmonizing duet of accomplishments, which paints a picture in the psyche of the listeners of exactly what they feel going “All Around the World” ensues.  All of these things fit perfectly in the 8bar segment, full of well placed backgrounds and instrumentation.  This song could really go all around the world.

Up next in the verse category, we have 25 year old, homegrown ATLien, jSalmz (pronounced Psalms, which I find brilliant).  His wordsmith tactics, come more from of a  vantage of “We Here!!”.  He jumps in saying, “Given the talents we possess, I can understand why we’re having the connects, flying overseas just to have us at events.”  Bringing to life the legitimacy of their relevance, further stating that they know and love the songs of his colleagues.  He then goes to compare the lifestyles of then and now.  Also giving light to future aspirations, such as acting.  Ending with witty lines that ultimately salutes his Crem de la Crem team.

Finally the song comes full circle with a solo from S.dot Gomez.  The short verse really puts the seal on the bottle of musical genius, that is “All Around the World”.  I can see a bright future for this threesome of talent, as long as they live to everything they’ve envisioned in the process of this song.
