worked on the creature au some today! Philippe’s chapter of the prologue is taking foreveerrrrr because I am simply having oodles of fun with how he and corbeau play off each other when they first meet, hehehe

In my AU, Webber is STILL a spider! However, unlike in canon, where he was eaten and merged with the spider outside of the Constant, he was fused with it upon entering the Constant :)
as a result, he kept some of his human clothes and features!
The changes for him are more lore than appearance wise, but I still tried to make the design a bit more different from canon :> (he gets to keep his clothes because, if the other survivors all do, then why wouldn't he?)
Unlike in canon, he was never exactly chased from his home, after he pushes off the spider and it attacks him, while knowing he's in danger, he kind of wishes to be pulled out of this and survive, terrified of dying from his actions
Maxwell, hearing his pleas, then pull him into the constant, to "save" him from dying there. (However, we all know it won't really do so. )
His parents probably rush into the study room after hearing Webber's screams, but found nothing other than a broken cage, and papers thrown around the room, as if a strange 'tornado' had gone through the place, and Webber nor the spiders are anywhere to be found :) (aka messy room because of the portal)
I think once he meets the other survivors, he's confused and thinks everyone has 'fused' with some other creature too, howerever, he's just a bit of a special case... what do you mean no one else can discuss with the creature they turned into?!
Side note, the other 'monster' survivors like Wortox and Wurt remain the same, as they were already creature from the Constant, but I may try to slightly push the animal features more? I still need to see mmhh,, I'm still not fully set on every design and things are bound to change, but even if it's not the most original, I think I'm currently happy with this Webber design ! And I hope you like it too :]

How do the creatures feel about pet names? Would they like it if the reader called them "good boys"?
Or would they prefer something formal if they understood the meaning of such words (husband, partner)?
Do they have a name for the reader other than "mate"?

I think they would like "good boy." It's like how the Fae like being told they are good Fae and how you should never say a Fae is a bad Fae. A Fae is never bad at being a Fae. So, they are good. Calling the creatures, even though they are not Fae, good creatures, is like reaffirming that they are doing a good job of being creatures. They like the reassurance. It feels good. But no more feelings than that.
They wouldn't really like formal terms because they know "mate" and they like mate. It describes who and what you are perfectly. You are mates.
Eventually, they will call you other things besides their destined mate or just mate. They don't really call you anything at first besides mate with each other, but nothing to your face. But you will notice they akin you to small creatures. Creature Sun will one day call you "Chickadee" and Creature Moon will one day call you "Little Mouse" or "Bunny" depending on which one you are acting more like. One day you will be called "Little Cloud" by Sun and "Little Star" by Moon. Those are saved for just you though. In front of others, it is often just "mate." They would never say your name in fear of it being your true name. They wouldn't want to pull that on you or give it to someone else. They often put "little" in front of their terms for you, because to them, you are so small, and they find it very cute. They like how small you are. So, you are their "little mate."
