Creative Carbon - Still-life: Contact sheets
For my creative carbon still-life image, my concept was based on how the fashion industry is one of the biggest causes of climate change. Several tonnes of clothing goes to landfill each year, especially from fast fashion. This is why buying second hand and vintage clothing is much more ethical and sustainable.
My plan was to create a pile of clothing to replicate clothing being thrown away, I also wanted to show fabric scissors on top of the pile to convey that old clothing can be reworked into new clothing, resulting in less waste.
For my background, I used black plastic bin bags which I had used for a previous project. I used this to add to the whole throwing away clothing concept and to convey that these clothes are being thrown away.
I experimented using different lighting angles to create stronger shadows and highlights. I also put the camera on a tripod and set a slow shutter speed to utilise the painting with light technique.

Creative Carbon - Plan
For the creative carbon brief I struggled to find a group of place which I could photograph as I contacted a few different groups and didn't hear back. However I will be photographing a new sustainable vintage clothing store called 'The Vintage Scene'
The store is located in Glasgow city centre and are allowing me to take photos in the store. All of their stock is vintage, second-hand or up cycled and reworked making it a sustainable and climate friendly shop.
I plan to get many different photos of the clothes and the interior plus exterior of the shop to show the large selection they offer.

The idea behind my Creative Carbon Still life was all about bike safety in relation to Recyke-a-bike. I started off by using a helmet, bike lock and key, bike lights and a head torch. However during the shoot I ended up taking most of these out or repositioning them in a way that better suited it. I wanted to get across the idea of how important bike safety is if you’re ever out cycling.
