“I’m so in love with you. Make love your goal.” ~ the Power of Love . I read recently some words by a well-known instagram poet to the effect that unreciprocated love is worthless because love is all about flow back and forth. I couldn’t disagree more. Love is not confined to such societal templates. Love doesn’t follow traffic laws. Love is an endless reservoir, an eternal spring. It loves when no love comes back. . I write from the perspective of someone who has experienced an incapability to receive love from a very young age. The first person I remember saying the words “I love you” to me was a boy who lived on my street when I was very young. He was a few years older than me and his name was Jonathan. His father was a policeman and he had dark hair. These are the things I remember. He walked with me into the field we all used to play in and picked me a poppy, kissed me on the cheek and said “I love you.” I shut right down. I remember feeling wrong about the whole thing. It could have been adorable, and I just couldn’t receive it. That was probably my first date. I’ve managed to mostly avoid them since then. How can a child so young be so incapable of receiving the purest love while surrounded by nature? . I have met a couple of people recently who have turned my heart over. None of them available. And yet the kindness and consideration they have shown me in small moments has taken me by surprise. It took me back to this memory and it is as though everyday romance has entered my life in a new way. . What if we can experience love, no matter the flow, coming or going, building up or passing away. Just allow it to flow through us expecting nothing back. Feel it spiralling inside us and whatever impulses arise, let them go. What if love were the goal? The experience of love, not the object. . These are the reflections I am having. The poet writes such words and feels they have produced something clever. Há 2 grandes tipos de atração emocional: [romântica] e [platónica] - associadas a [crushes e squishes]. Existe ainda um termo que se pode relacionar com ambos – alterous – e esse termo pode ser usado no lugar de platonicidade ou romanticidade (bi-alterous em vez de bi-romântique, por exemplo). A atração alterous é descrita como não sendo inteiramente romântica nem platónica, constituída pelo desejo de uma intimidade emocional que não seja necessariamente nenhum dos 2 grandes tipos. Assim, pode levar ou predominar em relacionamentos [queerplatónicos]. Uma pessoa que não consegue perceber se está a sentir atração platónica, romântica ou ambas (separadamente ou juntas, nesse caso atração alterous) é uma pessoa [quoirromântica]. Há ainda quem considera a atração intelectual e atração criativa: O primeiro refere-se a atração devida a um ESTÍMULO intelectual, não dependendo do nível de inteligência do tipo de pessoa por quem se sente atração nem da pessoa que a sente, logo, não é para ser encarado como um termo elitista. O segundo tipo consiste na atração pela capacidade criativa de alguém. Ambos os termos descrevem experiências muito reais e que constam como parte da atração emocional, seja esta do tipo que for.
