Why are modern action adventure films just not landing? (I’m very aware the DnD Honour Among Thieves/Jumangi: Welcome to the Jungle were much more in line of what I’d consider good adventure films)
Refusal to commit to an idea or vibe (Marvel I’m looking at you)
Reliance on nostalgia/lack of original material
PUT THE GODDAMN CAMERA DOWN AND LET US SEE THINGS
Everything is too clean/sterile
It’s actually v hard to tell these stories without exploiting certain cultures
Boring, safe heroes
No mystery. Everything is explained and spoon fed to the audience
Poor casting (personality over actors)
Something else, please explain

I studied adventure and fantasy films as well as adaptations extensively in university so I have a video essay planned (finally I’m getting to YouTube) but I’m interested to get your thoughts since pretty much all of these problems are stemming the place that’s sparked the Writers’ Strike so it feels relevant.
Because we obviously have fantastic writers and directors and creatives out there - why aren’t they getting to tell stories?
Also, support the Writers Strike.
