Material World, âThe Receipt Is In The Bagâ (Final piece). 2017, November 20th.Â
I decided to make a bag out of card and receipt because I had never made a bag before and I had a lot of receipts. The receipts were symbolic to consumerism, which was something we needed to include in our work.Â
I think the piece turned out well considering that itâs my first attempt at making a bag, itâs well structured and it can hold things. Visually- I think it looks nice.
I couldâve used better adhesive to stick the receipts down with and something more discrete for the strap. I also had to use Blu-Tac as a clasp to keep the top down.
In the future I might recreate this piece and try to use it in a normal day to see how well it holds up in everyday use. I wanted to rip the receipts up more and give it more of a Mosaic style however I didnât have the time when I made the bag.Â
Material World 2017, November 13th.Â
In pairs we made miniature worlds with the materials we brought in with us and materials around the room. We made a lake surrounded by mountains.Â
Recording The City, Rainy Walk. 2017, November 16th.Â

I used the rain and walking for the audio in the video because weather is a big part of Manchesters personality and Manchester is full of people who are rushing to be somewhere and commuters.Â
The project was initially supposed to be pictures from around Manchester city centre however I ended up not going when the rest of the class did and every time I went in my free time it wasnât a good time to take pictures, it was either rush hour, raining or not pretty due to the construction of the Christmas Markets, I donât think either show the spirit of Manchester so I stuck with the pictures I took in Salford.
I think the video could have been better, I could have included more methods of recording however I think the final outcome is good with the resources I had. I used an editing software I had never used before - Sony Vegas - to put the video together and I used my phone as a camera.Â
Recording The City Research
This project had much less needed to research, it was mostly practical work.Â
I did look at the way Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller recorded video in the city. I find their take on capturing the city really interesting and itâs something I looked at parodying. I think the story telling aspect is something that I hope to incorporate in my piece in some way.Â

Time & Space, Untitled. This is my final piece for the Time & Space project. The edits I made from peer feedback was slowing it down and adding music. In the first draft everything is way too quick and there was no sound at all. I had to take out the audio from the clips because it sounded really hectic after being sped up. I added a song published by League of Legends called Bit Rush.Â
Time & Space. 2017, October 23rd. This is the first draft of my Time & Space piece that I presented to my classmates. The idea behind this piece is that I spend a lot of time playing League of Legends. I happened to have a huge amount of highlight clips from my past 20 games. Some games were with my university team, some were with friends and some were by myself.Â
I made the time-lapse in Final Cut Pro. I had over 300 clips to filter through and add. I used about 200 clips in this draft and I would say I used too many. I sped the clips up to about 400% speed which I thought was a good representation in the time-lapse form. Â
