The feis went okay in the end. Results were pretty mixed, but to be honest, I havenāt been dancing my best recently, I havenāt been practising much and Iāve missed a few classes, so I couldnāt really expect to do any better.Ā
1st 16 & Over Intermediate treble reel 2nd 16 & Over Intermediate hornpipeĀ 3rd 16 & Over Intermediate traditional setĀ 7th 16 & Over Intermediate heavy jig (lmao I came last) 11th Senior (17+) Open reelĀ
I didnāt place in Senior (17+) Open slip jig -- they only placed the top 6 out of 12 and it was my first time doing slip jig in Open, plus it went terribly, so yāknow, not a surprise.Ā
Iām disappointed with my heavy jig result, but the rest are as good as I couldāve hoped for, to be honest. And hey, at least I won something! Even if itās only treble reel.
(NB: CRDM has two types of feiseanna. This was a grades feis, meaning they have grades including Open, but just have a two-round championship and no prelim. At a championship feis, itās mostly the same setup as CLRG, i.e. grades up to Inter and then prelim and Open. Hence why I was doing some Open grades.)
Kent Regional Feis action shots!
This is the first time Iāve ever had action shots, and possibly the last too, since the person who does them for CRDM UK feiseanna is retiring :ā( Iām glad I got one (1) good action shot in my lifetime.Ā
Well, I think Mulvihill Academyās first feis with CRDM went pretty well -- and I did way better than I was expecting. After saying I had no expectations for today, I got the following results:

Iām particularly shocked and pleased by the reel, which I came dead last in at my last two feiseanna. As you can see from the pictures, I came first out of ten, which is a pretty huge group for an adult dancer. The other dances were out of at least eight, iirc. That bottom picture was taken as I turned to the girl next o me and said,Ā āWait, did I just win the reel?ā because I honestly couldnāt believe it actually happened.
This is probably my last feis with Mulvihill, depending on what happens with jobs for the next academic year, so I have no idea what my competitive future looks like. But it looks like it might not be too long until Iām edging towards Prelim...
