(here is my ‘being master lin’s adopted child’ headcanon, for anyone interested!)

BEING MASTER LIN’S ADOPTED CHILD, AND DATING MARIA:

Maria being the one who makes the first move on you, since she knows right from meeting you that she wants to be with you

Although you’ve been trained to be rather stoic and not show too much emotion on the surface, Maria always manages to find ways to get you flustered

The both of you loving the thrill of having to sneak around and keep your relationship a secret

Not only do you have to keep your relationship lowkey because you’re at King’s, but you also have to hide it from your father, who you know would not approve

Maria always teasing you about how the two of you should tell Master Lin you’re dating

“C’mon, y/n, I think Master Lin likes me! Why would he get mad if he found out the two of us are dating?” “Do you really want to risk that, Maria?”

Maria always flirting with you in class or in the hallway when she can, winking at you or whispering flirty remarks to you as she passes by

Always taking her by surprise whenever you actually flirt back, or sneak in a kiss at her locker on your way to class, but she loves it

The rest of your friends always warning you that you’re going to get caught

“The two of you are idiots. I can’t believe you’re trying to date under Master Lin’s nose.” “Well, it’s working so far, Saya, so I’d say we’re doing pretty well.”

Maria teaching you bits of Spanish, and her always finding it amusing when you use little bits and pieces in conversation, or if you swear in Spanish

Sneaking into Maria’s room after lights out

Always having super long make-out sessions, and often spending the night with Maria since she’ll refuse to let you leave

The both of you being really protective of one another, to the point where it almost gives the two of you away at times, since you’re always the first to jump to one another’s defence

Master Lin confronting you about your relationship after he thinks it’s starting to affect you too much, because of course he’s known this entire time

“Your relationship with Maria is making you sloppy. You’re focusing more on her than your training.” “I- I’m sorry, father.”

Refusing to break up with Maria, even though you know that’s what your father wants you to do

“Maria, we have to be more careful. My dad is onto us, okay?” “Shit.” 

But trying to keep your distance from her only drives the two of you crazy, since you’re both so into each other and always want to be around one another

“I can’t stay away from you, baby.” “I can’t either, Maria, I can’t stop thinking about you.”

Being Newt Scamander’s best friend:

Meeting at Hogwarts and sitting together in class

Initially not thinking much of Newt, especially since he’s so quiet it’s hard for you to have an impression of him

But you quickly impressed by how smart he is

Him generously helping you out in class when you need it, occasionally whispering an answer to you when you get called on while you’re asleep or just not paying attention

Always being able to make him smile or chuckle at your sarcastic comments and silly remarks

Being fiercely protective of him, even though he can handle himself, just because he’s so docile and a lot of people tend to try take advantage of him

Still keeping in touch with him when he gets expelled from Hogwarts, especially since you believe his innocence long before you find out what actually happened with Leta

Being incredibly supportive of him when he starts his project with his beasts and giving him ideas for his book

Constantly being in awe when Newt shows you a new beast, and him loving how quickly you get along with each one

Being the first person he trusts to take care of them when he starts amassing more of them

Being the perfect team together, and having a strong enough bond where the two of you can communicate with one another without having to necessarily say anything

Going to New York with him

Teasing him about his obvious crush on Tina, although he definitely tries to deny it

“Newt, I know you well enough to know when you’re in love. Make a move!” “Don’t be ridiculous, y/n.”

Both of you impressing Tina, Queenie and Jacob with your magizoology knowledge

Comforting each other after losing Leta since you were all friends back in Hogwarts, although he’s the one that needs more comforting and you’re always there for him

Having a habit of finishing on another’s sentences, especially when you get excited

Some people assuming the two of you are dating because of how close you are, which you always find hilarious

Having lots of comfortable silences together, whether it be while the two of you are reading or working in Newt’s briefcase

Refusing to leave each other behind, even if it means risking your lives, because the two of you are fiercely loyal to one another

Being adopted and trained by Master Lin:

Master Lin finding you for the first time after he sees you on the news

Your parents were killed in a brutal mugging, and you were lucky enough to be staying at a friend’s house when it occurred

Unbeknownst to you, your parents were actually alumni of King’s Dominion, and the supposed muggers were actually highly trained killers

Lin deciding to take you in instead of letting you go through the foster system 

Him noticing your talent for being able to quickly adapt to any environment you’re thrown into, and him knowing he can hone that skill for you into something deadlier

Lin training you in some basic combat and weaponry before he officially enrols you at King’s

Him never going easy on you – he wants you to be the best of the best, and you’re not going to get there if he sugarcoats it for you

Him often getting you to channel your pain and anger from losing your parents, especially after he reveals the truth about their deaths to you

In your down time, when you’re not training, he is a very supportive father

Becoming very protective of Nahia when she’s born

When you first become enrolled at King’s, no one knows about your relationship to Master Lin

Neither of you make it widely known, although you always get questions about how you’re a Legacy 

Only telling really close friends whom you trust, and that group is very small

“What? Master Lin’s your dad?” “Willie, shh! I don’t want others to know.” “Well, does anyone else know?” “Saya, but not because I told her. She found out herself.” 

Lin never giving you any slack just because he’s your father – if anything, he’s the one who always picks on you in class and gives you the hardest time 

Always having to compete with Saya for valedictorian, since Lin is always pushing you to be the top of your class

Often having to go on secret missions, sometimes with Saya, for Lin’s personal affairs 

Being the one to shadow and recruit Marcus when Lin starts to taken an interest in him

Although he’s not very vocal about it, Lin is very proud of you and how far you’ve come

But every now and then, you’ll catch him with a smile full of pride, and it never fails to make you happy
